TB trade conondrum

My response would be largely based on WHO the TB`er was. If it was someone like Phalex, Bongo, etc. I would trade back in an instant. But...they wouldn`t do something this stupid to start with. If it`s someone who`s relatively new to TB, no deal. Not liking the particular model isn`t a valid deal breaker - sorry. Yours is a stock finish neck; unaltered, undamaged I assume. You`re not MF.

This I just can't get behind. If he returns it in the same condition it was in when he received it, there's no reason to worsen the condition of the one you're sending back.

I know, I know, it wouldn't be the cool thing to do but the mischief maker in me is screaming "HELLZ YEAH!" What would be really sneaky is if bass has a colored gloss neck and anyonefortennis had the satin refin done in a color to match the gloss and see how long it take for the trader to notice the difference :D.

...not that I would condone such action :ninja:!

Assuming the whole return process goes well (got confirmation my bass is on it's way back today and should be here by friday), what do you guys think is appropriate feeback here? Negative? Neutral? Nothing at all?

Leaning towards neutral since the TBer was never rude (despite us disagreeing on who the onus is), was always prompt with replies, shipped back quickly, and agreed to my "return policy".

I think you did the right thing trading back. It's not like he (or she) waited a week or month before telling you they didn't like it. Yeah, I know Bongos are fairly common and the guy should of known better, but we're all human and can make mistakes. You having him pay for your shipping was more than fair in this situation. Now if he had waited a week I would of (politely) told him he was SOL.

As far as feedback is concerned, I'd either leave neutral or nothing at all. A person only deserves negative feedback if they send you something damaged, lie to you, get hostile via email or phone call, or attempt to fraud you (hopefully a nice ban would go with this as well). Besides, leaving negative feedback would only start an unneeded pissing match.

Definitely this. Positive feedback should only be left if both parties are completely happy with the result and the process itself.

Oh - pot meet kettle.

His bass arrived today. Apparently I'm supposed to disclose that the bongo has a satin neck like all bongos, but he fails to mention that the case included is pretty road worn and covered in stickers and crap. Now THAT is something I expect to be disclosed! - Bonus, the packing was below average and the case took a hit and now has a nice crack on it.

At the end of the day, I'm glad this is going back. Now I hope he re-packaged my bass as well as I did. I guess friday will tell.

 here's to hoping, anyone! It'll be one heck of a pickle if yours comes back damaged!

Well if that's the case then I might be willing to leave negative feedback.

How did his bass arrive? UPS, FedEX? I would have just refused delivery and had it sent back to him. Especially if the box was damaged in any way, knowing the situation that you were in. That way you technically never took possession of the bass or opened the box, and he can't blame you for a cracked case.

I couldn't do that since the box had a check for me (which was originally just a 'price difference' and became shipping reimbursement) and it was also shipped to my work where folks just sign for it downstairs. I actually wanted to take possession of the bass until at least mine gets back, just to make sure I have a hand to play if things go bad with my bass coming back to me.

TBer did not seem too concern about the busted case (I sent him a pic). Probably cause it was already in below average shape.

I'm surprised about some of you saying leave positive (?????) or no feedback at all here. Next time you do a trade, wouldn't you want to know if you are dealing with the same guy?? After all feedback has nothing to do with the current deal (if a deal's gone sour, feedback is not going to fix/return your stuff) , but rather build up a reputation for future deals with other people. This TBer has a 20+ feedback rating but given the case conditions and packaging, I doubt this is the first deal were someone ends up dissatisfied.
