TBC club

He was always pretty open about the fact that the parts were built overseas, but assembled and finished in the USA, arguing that it was the best way to keep costs down and quality up, and as most of us in this thread can attest he succeeded well on that point.

I have a 5 string MM, and recently picked up a JJ off ebay, and they're just some of the best feeling basses I've ever played. It's subjective of course, but I love 'em. I really want to catch a red-pickguard JJ (4 or 5 string) one of these days, I REALLY wish I'd bought one back when they were readily available.
I'm considering putting my MM/J with red pick guard up for sale. It's amazing but I find myself playing my Carvin XB75 most of the time.

So I stole Jay's 5'er from him, here's a couple happy family photos before I start thinning the herd again.

I haven't busted out the scale, but interestingly the 5M seems to be the lightest of the three.
Personally I love the red so much, I'm probably letting the black JJ4 go back into the wild, even though really I should be dropping the M5 since it's tonally superseded by the MJ5.

Was a tough decision to let it go. No longer gigging and it just sat in the closet. Was a choice between my Carvin XB75 Flame Koa top or the MJ5. Same pickup configuration. Both played equally well. The M5 had more preamp options that I added. I hope it serves you well!! It went to a good home!

Bumping old thread.

For those who don't know, I bought the remaining assets (the stockpile of semi finished bodies) of TBC after it closed, with the intention of building new, custom necks for them and making upgraded basses under a new name.

Unfortunately, a combination of Covid and poor health has made that virtually impossible so far, causing me to pretty much give up on the idea for awhile.

But, I did manage to produce a handful of custom necks within the past two years, made specifically for the TBC bodies. They're of very high quality and craftsmanship, made to my exact specifications by a respected Luthier in California, and I'm putting them up for sale in the TB classifieds because right now they're not being used and I think they'd be better off being offered to members of the TBC club who'd like the opportunity to have a major upgrade from the stock neck.

I won't make a direct link to the TB classifieds section, but PM me for information on what's available and I'll provide all the details.

They won't be cheap, but I'm hoping to sell them for what I paid for them and I won't be making any money, myself. I just want to come close to breaking even.
