He absolutely was a junkie and that was directly related to his death. That fact is widely discussed. Had he not have been a junkie, he might not have been the musician he was, but chances are much greater that he'd still be with us.

Is this thread supposed to turn into a running list of musicians with addictions? If so, it's going to be a *long* thread. Maybe you can edit the OP and title again.

I've never fully understood what it is about someone who I will gladly pay to entertain me, thinking I could give even a tiny whit about their politics, sexual orientation or belief system. I pay to see them handle a ball better than most, or play a bass better than most, not to be exposed to their personal habits or feelings.

We have a CanCon rocker by the name of Matthew Good. The guy goes off on his political views in every concert, it is probably the biggest complaint I have heard about his shows. He is well aware of this, however, and markets a shirt that reads "I hear Matt Good is a real *******."

His own daughter, Mary, has written extensively about the mental illness and the drug/alcohol problem. She talks about it openly and acknowledges his problems.

Edit: What does any of this really have to do with your idol, Lemmy? Lemmy was a junkie and an alcoholic, that happened to "make it" and cashed in on that.

She has also written extensively how she doesn't like to hear people's "crazy Jaco" stories, that isn't how she likes to remember her father.

To be fair, I do. He died from another person, not being a junkie. On that note, was Jaco even into junk? I thought he liked cocaine but he did play jazz so it would make sense.

Absolutely, and that I agree with. But, no one in this thread is posting stories or anything, just the fact that the guy abused drugs and alcohol (which are little more than statements of fact). Mary also has some pretty bad mental illness as well, which is unfortunate.

I was out recently and noticed a T shirt in the audience that pretty much summed it up for me this time around. It was a black T and on the back in yellow letters it read, "Fork Your Candidate" only it was a little different. Underneath that was a big A in a circle, which I believe is a symbol for anarchy?

TBH, I'd love to see America in anarchy for about 3 months. After lining up every day at three for the hour long wait for a two liter daily water ration at the neighborhood water buffalo, then trying to scrounge an MRE off a troop to avoid having cold boiled rice for dinner again for the 10th straight day, A lot of minds would be changed.
