I have learned to always quote SF in posts that need his comment to make sense. I've seen him delete many posts in a single thread.

I completely agree. And I freely apologize for the part I played in that. I guess it was me, based on the unsolicited PM I received from someone who immediately "left the conversation".

I am just having trouble accepting that it's okay to start a thread, or even post in one, then go back to it weeks later and edit the thread opener (and title in some cases), rendering many of the responses nonsensical. In this case, the thread was re-started and after someone responded to it, the post that was responded to was deleted, making it appear as someone else resuscitated the thread in a negative fashion.

If that's acceptable TB etiquette, I'll just have to learn to devolve a little or not participate in those types of threads.

Make sure you quote the post you're commenting about. Then if someone clicks on the link to the quote, if it's been deleted you get an error message. I've clicked on tons of quoted SF posts that no longer exist.

I go along with a call to lock thread titles and posts that have been liked. @the ombudsman and @PortlandBass77 show as liking the OP but I don't know if they like the current one or the original...

Several months ago, SF got quite mad at me for quoting him when I replied to one of his comments. At the time, it seemed quite odd to me. Making more sense now.....

Lemmy's philosophy of life is the last one I will follow, I will better embrace Ozzy, seems more fun to me.

My opinion of him (Lemmy) went downhill fast when I learned that he didn't do anything whatsoever to raise his kid. "Fun" is a great part of life, but taking care of yourself and your family is actually something of importance.

I had originally liked this post (in February) then I see, first thing as I open TB, that the post has been edited weeks later. How do I know what I liked?

You've found his weak spot! He doesn't care enough to change something he knows, even when he learns he's wrong. The one he think he cares about is being liked, yet his obsession with everyone liking and agreeing with his opinions is why people don't like him.

Eeeeehhhh, I often edit posts for style, grammar, and spelling. Most of these edits take place right after I post, and occasionally after a like. I do try to be reasonable about not changing the substance of a post though. I don't bother if it's been quoted.

If you think that editing a post, or in this case, the thread opener, doesn't completely change meanings and is not even slightly misleading, you don't want anyone on "your side. Sorry pal. There are no sides here as far as I'm concerned. I try to like everyone (it's easier that way) and even though there are differing viewpoints, I don't see it as "sides".

I completely see why some people have lost their ability to edit, or claim they did prior to further penalties being handed down.

Oh. TL/DR- I don't dig the bait and switch posting technique.

I would be impressed if someone laid a trap thread and changed the OP such that the conversation still makes sense for an entirely different subject. That would be some talent.

Having read the original Lemmyology (or however you spell it) post, I recall that the essence of the Lemmy Way is to do whatever the heck you freaking want, and own it. No apologies, no excuses, no butthurt if someone disagrees with your choices.
