TBOT - Negativity Central

Point taken.

How does one check? Time machine?

Actually the internet time machine may still take daily snapshots- haven't visited that site in a while. You can always ask- if something looks odd, like a moderator responding to a weeks old thread where the poster has clearly deleted/edited a bunch of his posts, there's probably a reason. When there's smoke, there is usually fire.

more jabs come from every direction, even moderators. In a way, I can't blame him for being sensitive.

People here are jerks a lot of the time.

Yeah, even you. Et Tu, Bruté?
I've got to wonder, if you're willing to go nuts over a post edit, did I really want you on my side?

Coincidentally, we just missed the Ides of March by one day!

It's not a war, it's a discussion. When you enter a discussion, in real life or on the internet, be prepared for varying views. That's kind of the point.

If a thread creator wants no varying opinions in a thread, then he or she should specify in the original post. Put a disclaimer in there. "Only post if you share my views and opinions". That would work on me. I'd keep out of it if I disagreed with whatever the subject was. I'm sure most people would.

At which point we'd shut it down. It's a discussion forum- if people want to blog, there's better venues for it. That's not to say people should go wildly off topic, but disagreements within the context of a subject are welcome and if well thought out, even encouraged.

True. I was thinking SF might've enjoyed this thread more if it was called "Lemmy appreciation thread. No non- Lemmologists allowed" but I see your point.

That would be a far better topic choice if you were looking for mostly similar viewpoints. Repeatedly bringing up his drinking issues in a thread like that could be considered trolling due to the specificity of the thread.

I love when he says we all need to be screwing and becoming 'coffeeish'

I love that short clip, much more to it than just the "it's ok to be black and like metal".

Speaking of Lemmy in a philosophical mood, I once asked him on tape for a definition of the artist in society,
and I liked his response so much my previous band and I sampled it into the following track.
The middle sample is of Henry Rollins, who trashes Clear Channel Music (Now "I Heart Radio").

That's a ver cool track!

Except a moderator didn't restart the thread. Super_Freak did, then deleted his post. Pacman's post was a direct response to SF's post.

Maybe check to see if you have the whole story before pointing fingers.

Ah, now I get it. I was wondering A) Why Pacman dropped in on this thread all,of the sudden, after it was dormant for so long, and B) Why I saw all sorts of SF quotes, yet didn't see where he had actually said any of these things.

Thanks for clearing it all up.

I don't see how it wasn't considered trolling in a thread like we had.

When the subject of a thread is "what would Lemmy do?", discussing what Lemmy actually did is hardly trolling.

Nope.

If you think that editing a post, or in this case, the thread opener, doesn't completely change meanings and is not even slightly misleading, you don't want anyone on "your side. Sorry pal. There are no sides here as far as I'm concerned. I try to like everyone (it's easier that way) and even though there are differing viewpoints, I don't see it as "sides".

I completely see why some people have lost their ability to edit, or claim they did prior to further penalties being handed down.

Oh. TL/DR- I don't dig the bait and switch posting technique.
