TC Electronic BG250 Club

I just came back from my music store. I tried the BG250 from TC. I was amazed!! Sounds frankly great. Tuner inside. Nice EQ. 250 of power on 115... just right for rehearsal (I think it can be enough with my 4 piece). Very light.

I think about buying it for an in/out combo for rehearsal. Tuner inside; I'll leave my pedal board board at home for rehearsal. The tube sims get me somewhat of little distortion so I get something more. If I found it on the used market I'm a buyer!

There are TonePrints that offer different/more overdrive than the onboard TubeDrive.

I think I've seen a couple in the classifieds, but being relatively new, I wouldn't expect to you'll see them too frequently. Good luck though.

I got mine from American Musical Supply with an extra year warranty for 339 shipped, new. I had them price match. Feel free to PM me for details.

Just got my BG250 this week from ZZounds for 339 matching GC. Played with toneprint & dialed in a good sound on the amp. Light as hell & I can't wait to gig with it next week. Shouldn't have any problem using it with PA support. I'll post a review as soon as I finish playing. The bottom is a lot tighter than the Roland CB100XL with a 12" speaker that I used last year & it's two pounds lighter.

I'm thinking of picking one of these up as my first brand new amp purchase. My ye olde Samick BA50 (I think) of about the same size recently shook itself to bits, so I'm after something that can hold its own in a five piece with three guitars and a not-too-heavy drummer.

Last time I had a look at one of these I liked the tone and the toneprints features seems great. But I'm most curious about the volume. I haven't had much experience with playing live on different combos, but the Fender Rumble 150 was about the volume I'm after (I didn't like the tone, though).

I've never had to fight to have the bass heard in our music, so from the little bit of info I've given, do you guys think the BG250 would be sufficient? Biggest crowd we've played to is maybe 200.

Also, since I'm in Australia, these amps don't come cheap. It's $600+ here. Is it worth it, or would there be similar quality cheaper options?

It's a LOT louder than a Rumble 150 and a sight better sounding. Go for it.

Well, I guess that tells you what you need to know in comparison to the Rumble 150. Just generally, I've found it to stand up well next to a hard hitting drummer and too-loud guitarist.

In my louder band, we use a pa with 15s & horns on stands and a Mackie HD15 sub at most gigs, so the ultimate volume is less of an issue, but it's loud enough for any need I have up to the point of going through the pa.

I have been following this thread for a while now and am ready to take the plunge into TC territory. The only issue I have is that when I listen to YouTube videos on the BG250 there seems to be a lot of noise coming out. These are TC videos with Uriah Duffy. It seems more apperent with the tube tone or high eq turned up. Is this an issue with anyone else. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I stopped by a GC yesterday and played through one of these and was impressed with the tone, more so than some of the other more expensive stuff there. It seemed reasonably loud also, although I never really crank 'em up in a store so it's hard to tell. I wish it would allow for an extension cab.

What kind of noise are you referring too? Hiss from treble? I'll have to watch the video with headphones on.

I can't say I've heard anything remarkable from it...certainly not with mild/moderate eq. There is hiss from the tweeter with the treble dimed, but again, I don't consider that to be noteworthy as I don't personally run with the treble dimed, and I think that's a pretty typical result.

I haven't heard any noise. Quite the contrary, actually.
