Im glad to hear that the noise I here on YouTube is not an issue. I heard the noise and hum when Uriah either turned up the mids, highs or tube tone. It wasn't just hiss. It was hum also. Maybe the amp was picking up his single coil hum since he was so close to it. Well thanks again for your input. I'll be picking one up soon.

Unless the video was intended to attempt to show a particular noise, IMO there's just too many possibilities for you to try to judge from it.

Best if you can get your hands on one before buying.

Personally, I've always been a bit surprised at what people try to show with youtube videos. To me, it's like a TV commercial attempting to demonstrate the quality of a TV :hmm:

Here, listen to how good this cabinet sounds...recorded through my camcorder mic to a compressed format...and then recompressed 70:1 for youtube...through your computer speakers...hear the quality

I'm thinking of picking one of these up as my first brand new amp purchase. My ye olde Samick BA50 (I think) of about the same size recently shook itself to bits, so I'm after something that can hold its own in a five piece with three guitars and a not-too-heavy drummer.

Last time I had a look at one of these I liked the tone and the toneprints features seems great. But I'm most curious about the volume. I haven't had much experience with playing live on different combos, but the Fender Rumble 150 was about the volume I'm after (I didn't like the tone, though).

I've never had to fight to have the bass heard in our music, so from the little bit of info I've given, do you guys think the BG250 would be sufficient? Biggest crowd we've played to is maybe 200.

Also, since I'm in Australia, these amps don't come cheap. It's $600+ here. Is it worth it, or would there be similar quality cheaper options?
Howdy,
I'm in Australia too and I gotta admit, you don't get much for $600.
This little combo is a steal for the price.
I just bought one to add to my other TC gear. TCE all the way I say.

Are you positive? I've read about folks thinking this was an issue. What ended up being the issue was the adjustability of the tweet/treble control while using a passive instrument. Folks saw a vast difference when using an active bass.

Definitely might be this. A passive bass with older strings won't come through as much as an active with fresh strings I can hear the difference if I'm playing my Spector verses my Jazz.

Got my amp today. The high end worked just fine and the noise level on the highs is lower than most amps that Ive tried including offerings by Genz Benz and Markbass. I am very exited. The amp sounds great. Just need update to 2.0 and mess with toneprints. I'll let you know how the Roland pedal works later.
