For the money the amp can not be beat. I needed something to take to the rehearsal studio since a bass amp was not available. The GK MB series has had many QC issues. In all inexpensive combos they tend to sound a little "boxy" but this is not too bad. The fretless sounds great thru it. I corresponded with Ed Friedland before his review was posted in bass player mag. He liked it. Just said it was somewhat power deficient for larger gig work.

TC Electronic BG250 Club

Got my cover today. Seems to be very good quality. I got the polyester with 1/4" padding. It occurred to me after I clicked to confirm my order that I didn't really know what the difference would be in poly and nylon and I worried that it might be like a windbreaker or something, but it's sturdy and stout material.
Wired up a longer cable for the Switch 3 just got some TRS plugs from Radio Shack and converted a mic cable took 10 minutes.
Also mounted the Switch 3 on my pedal board I needed to keep my compressor, wireless, envelop filter and synth pedals plus I put my IEM transmitter on it now I can use the TC for a chorus, flanger and octaver effect.
Got my rig all together now just need a gig!

I just ordered the Premium padded cover. I've had my BG250 for a couple of months now. Right after I bought it, I took it to a theatre where we have been playing 7-8 shows per week. There are two other bass players who are also using the amp and they really like it, as do I. One of them is already saying that he'd like to buy one as well. I also have the RH450 head, but usually use it as a back-up to my MarkBass LMK head. Good stuff all around, and I'm glad to see that others like this amp, too. I've been using a electric piano/synth sustain pedal for toggling the TonePrint funtion, and may still get a Switch 3 for "proper" control of all three functions.

Judging from the Basic Plus, I'd imagine the Premium cover is going to offer all the protection anyone could want.

It's definitely worth consideration IMO.
I actually hadn't taken it out on a gig until this past weekend. This was a small place where the owners criterion for band volume is that he doesn't want people who are away from the band to have to yell at each other to talk and be heard. It was perfect. Sounded great and the load-in/out is just a beautiful thing.
I have an outdoor gig (private function) this coming weekend and I'm seriously considering giving it a go. I'll be through the PA, so I'm wondering how much is it that I really need on stage.

Yep, that's right. It toggles on/off for the Toneprint and the distortion/drive knob. Since this show did not require any overdriven tones, I left the drive knob at zero and then used the pedal as on/off for the TonePrint control. Worked fine, and the price was right.

I did see on the TC website someplace that they had a schematic of the switch 3 box. You could probably save a few bucks if you're feeling handy. It really makes a big difference with it.

Ah, so it does both at the same time then. It was a curiosity question more than anything else. I've been playing with using a little TubeDrive. It doesn't start to go into overdrive until the knob is past 4 or 5 (?). I have one of the Spectracomp prints in the TonePrint. I haven't found a use for any effects.
If I did decide to use an effect, it would be nice to have a free pedal, but it would probably be better to just use the button, if it comes up.
BigDaddy0, thanks for the tip. I just scored a Digitech FS300 for 25 bucks at my local Music Go Round. I'm going to the theatre tonight, so I'll report back with the findings of the substitute pedal.
I think $25 might be the magic number for me. Adrian, I see the raven there, so I'm wondering if your local Music Go Round might be near me. Where is that?
