Has anyone had any trouble updating to version 2. I hold down mute while turning on unit. B and g lights are supposed to come on. This is not happening. My USB is plugged in. I even tried another cable. Thanks for any help.

That's a pretty straight forward thing...hold mute and turn on. If it's not working to switch the mode, it seems like there could be a problem with the unit. I assume the mute button is working as a mute button?

It is a button without much travel to it. Are you sure it's registering as pushed?

Try doing it without the USB plugged in first then plug in the USB.

I'm certainly glad I waited & didn't order a foot switch & cover for this unit. Went to turn it on this morning & the only thing that lit up was the green led power indicator. Plugged my bass in & no sound was to be had. Sent an email to TC Electronic Help Desk & received an auto-reply that due to the volume of help requests they would answer me in 4 working days. That helped me make my decision to return it to zZounds under their 30 day return policy.

I only used it one time for a job last week in the 3 weeks I had it & enjoyed it immensely. Tone was right & volume was sufficient plus the portability was great. Maybe I will try them again when they come out with the next series but this wasn't a good sign. Initially it was the price that drew me in but I was hoping for a little more dependability than this.

Aww man, that's too bad. Understandable decision.

Mine (first one) went up in a very short period. Similarly, I went to use it and got nothing. I had used it earlier in the day for some bedroom practice, came back later, and when I turned it on, all of the lights lit and no sound.

I strongly considered packing it in. If your own experience tells you that you can't trust something, that leaves you in a bad spot, especially with a combo, where the only true backup would come from having another full rig.

I decided to give it another go partly because there was no indication of the exact same issue with any other units (time will tell on that). I also have extremely convenient circumstances that tipped the scale. It was replaced immediately with no effort from me, other than carrying the box from point A to point B (next door at my office). If I had bought from an online retailer, I may not have wanted to go through the exchange process.

I was not happy that I never learned what the issue was, but I'll let the unit I have now earn my trust over time.

Thanks a lot for all your help trying to update to 2.0. I finally got it to work last night. It seems that the driver has to be installed before it will work. I was so excited . Then plugged in my bass after I loaded the spectrcomp and popped the g string. What followed was a lot of hiss and buzz out of the tweeter. It doesn't seem blown just more noise and rattle. Oh boy. I will probably send it back and try another one.

Man! This is not a good series of posts. When this thing is right, it's right; that's the only reason that I decided to get a replacement instead of a refund. It seems like there are going to be a number of folks soured on it. Too bad.

How did the tweeter sound before that happened? If you turn the SpectraComp print off, does it still do it?

Noise and rattle? I've said before that I'm not an expert, but I'd throw that into the layman's category of "blown."

I'm not crazy about keeping my fingers crossed over an amp.

Well for some good news:
Took out the BG250 against a Marshall Stack and a LOUD drummer and she performed great. Sounded all-sum!

It's funny. I have been reading about these failures and this morning I plugged her in and BAM! no output and I thought "oh noes"! But it was the cable that failed. I hope y'all get your issues straightened out but it sure makes me think I need to get a DI box for backup.

So I have my BG250 coming to me soon. YAY! I've been needing a new amp for a while. I've been reading the couple of issues people have been having and I hope I don't have any.

Anyhow, I had a question about the toneprint app. I went and downloaded it on my android phone to prepare and noticed not all of the toneprints on the tc electronics site are loaded into it. Is this common? I mean, I'm mostly interested in the octaves, drives, and spectra comp and it looks like I'm going to have to hook the amp up to my pc to get them.

Does the iphone amp have more toneprints? I'm a tech geek and I know that this stuff happens but it's a little discouraging after seeing a video with Uriah Duffy beaming the octave sound to his amp from his phone and I can't. Thanks.

EDIT: Woops, I did an update and there they are! Sorry guys, it's fun being a newbie again. Wee!

I have an iPhone and I have all of the tones . I am sure you will get them as soon as they upgrade the app. Mine initially did not have all of the tones till it upgraded. As far as reliability it seems to me that the people who had problems with the amp had them early . There are not to many posts of guys gigging the amp for months and then something goes wrong. This gives me hope for the long haul.

Yeah, I noticed that with others, and it was the case with mine. That was one of the considerations I gave to this as well, although the amp hasn't been out all that long...still, that's one place I pull hope from.

Also, with mine, while I wasn't told what the problem was, it had the gut-level feel of a "technology issue" rather than something apparent breaking, overheating, shutting down, sounding horrible or going up in smoke (if that makes sense). It could have been purely a glitch at some programming/chip level. Not an excuse, but a different feeling about it (of "randomness" rather that a design flaw).

Love mine but I occasionally have a bit of a "zap" from the power supply at rear when I power up.
Anyone have the same?

My replacement (and the initial unit, up to the point that it locked up) have exhibited remarkably drama-free operation. I've noticed no noises of any kind, including fan noise that someone else asked about...no pops, zaps, buzzes or fan noise to be heard.
