TC Electronic Polytune question.

I'm having a problem with my Polytune pedal. When I play an open E or A string it always goes into Poly mode. Only after 5 or 10 seconds does it (sometimes) switch to single/needle display. Needless to say, this is not acceptable on stage where you need to tune as fast as possible.

This is happening with my Fender Jazz with all knobs and tone turned up. This didn't happen with my other bass with active pickups.

Do you think this issue is just due to having too low a signal?

I'm not sure. Are you running the pedal with a wall wart power supply or on battery? If battery, you might try a fresh one.

Another thing to try is maybe just using the bridge pickup on the jazz bass? That can sometimes help a tuner by letting it see a signal with less overtones.

I'm using a power supply. I tried using both pickups individually, but it didn't help. Although, that wouldn't have been a great solution on stage as I wouldn't want to mess with my tone settings just to tune the bass.

I'll try increasing the signal level and see if that helps...
