TC Electronics "Epic Fail"

to the OP. It's too bad you are having such a bad time with TC and your RH450. For a consumer of anything, the failure of a company to promptly address individual issues/problems is very frustrating. For example, I will never buy a Chrysler product again based on that companies utter failure to deal with me as consumer.

OTOH, the experience of many other happy users of TC gear in general, and the RH450 specifically, attest to the reliability of this amp and TC gear in general (this reasoning also applies to Chrysler of course - but I will still never spend a nickle on one of their products). TC enjoys a very positive reputation in audio gear market. These days, a manufacturer of anything is going to have some unit failures, it's inescapable. What needs to happen is for TC back up its gear and it's positive reputation with great CS along the lines of Genz or Hartke as experienced and documented by a number of TB members.

On the other hand, its amazing to me how this post immediately brings out the rabid TC haters here and re-fans the flames of so many other endless gripe posts about the RH "wattage-gate". I guess it is just indicative of where TB, and the amps thread seems to be going these days. You guys (TC haters) must have something better to do. (for the record, you will NEVER find me in an automotive website dissing Chrysler). Y'all need to figure out how to let stuff go.

To the OP, I really hope you get your amp back fixed or replaced. Whether its a car, a router, a TV or an amp, these situations are just a royal PITA.

good luck.

Don't hold your breath. ;)

OP, Uffe from TCE is a member here (username UKHTCE). I don't know how often he stops by these days, but you could always try a PM to him.

Like I said earlier, TC Elec should be reading & responding to TALKBASS customers.
GK does & so does Larry Hartke. They are fools if they don't.

I would agree with you wholeheartedly on this point. they should. it would go a long way to calm folks down a bit and show a strong CS ethic.

but

as much as I enjoy this Forum, TB often mistakes itself as "all bassplayers in the world"

and

after the endless shellacking TC got here - and is apparently still getting - for the RH450/750 "wattage-gate" thing, I would not be surprised to find that they don't care too much about the collective TB opinion on anything.

We aren't the only bass specific site on the web either. That's a testament to the commitment of guys that do drop by to resolve customer service issues here and elsewhere.

Quick and simple:mad:

RH-450 died 6 months after purchase, sent in for repair. 2 months later and many excuses "receiving error, holidays, warehouse shutdown ect.....ect...." I still don't have my amp and do not even know where it is at this point.

DON"T BY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY, CEO doesn't even have contact info anywhere , even my company's CEO makes his contact info avail and where the top electronics retailer in the Country.
I can just relate my experience a number of years ago. It may or may not be relevant today.

I sent a Triple C rack mount stereo Compressor in for repair. It was a discontinued product. I asked what the typical turn around time was and got a reasonable answer.

The 'repair' dragged on and on with excuse and promise after excuse and promise directly from the Service Manager. I have no idea if he's still there.

This went on for many weeks. Finally I ran out of patience, called the main phone number and asked who the Service Manager answered to and I was told he answered to the President of TC Electronics USA. I asked to speak with the President. He answered the phone immediately. I explained the situation and he said he'd look into it.

The President got back to me in short order, saying because it was a discontinued product they no longer stocked the needed repair part for the defective LCD display.

He had the Repair Dept. cannibalize one of the Triple C's that one of their support people used in their support function.

I had my repaired unit returned to me in short order.

Maybe a phone call to the top guy will help.

I had a similar wait on a warranty repair from Ampeg back when they were SLM, but given that Ampeg uses local warranty centers and TC repairs things themselves (IIRC), I would expect a little more from TC. It is still very frustrating though when you are treated this way after already having paid your hard-earned money. It is apparent to me from much of what they have done with their new amplifier line that the long-term support of the bass player market is not horribly important to them.

They seem to have been chased out of town with tail between legs. As newcomers to the bass amp design/manuf/marketing world they totally misunderstood and underestimated the tech savvy-ness of their market IMO. Hopefully they learn their lesson on this round of products - I'd expect bigger things from them in future.

I asked the wattage questions on their own forum BTW and received no answers.

Time to give this a try, thnx for the info

FWIW, I had a similarly horrible TC customer service experience last year. I won't bore everyone with the details again, but essentially I had to go to Uffe to get resolution. Everyone below him that I talked to was incompetent and rude to an extreme.

Did the place your purchase the amp from help at all in this situation? I ask, as well, maybe I got very lucky that the place I purchased from (Donovan/Springfield Music) came through when I had a somewhat minor cabinet issue, to point where I was stunned at how the issue was resolved, in a great way. Can't believe the store couldn't step in on your behalf...I feel really bad for you, but I am surprised based on my experience, perhaps lucky.
