TC RH450 Club

So... Solved the farting. The input side of my "floor model" was no bueno. Sam of the Anus replaced it with a smile and good to go. The output ohm rating diff between cabs and me throwing the holy hell in the front end of a broken amp was the issue. Fixed. VICTORY!!!

May have a line on a cheap pair of carvin 210mb cabs. They will be cheaper than 1 RS 210 cab. Wish I could hear one first. Anyone ever try one with their rh450?

It's probably a comparison too far, other than that they're both Carvin MB line and tweeterless, but I have a 115MBE that I positively love with the RH750. I dig the size, weight, loudness and sound.

Since they're only $230 new, I have to assume that "cheap" is going to be an awfully good price.

The biggest challenge with gear purchases tends to be "you get what you pay for". You could also consider going for used TCE cabs to save some dough.

The cliche "you get what you pay for" suggests that price represents quality, and is generally used to describe situations where the reason for a low price is that an item is inferior...that is the idea that "you can only expect crap for a low price."

There was no suggestion that $230 dollar new price tag on those reflects an inferior product. I base that on my experience with an identically priced model from the same line...as well as what I've read that others have to say...and my knowledge/experience with Carvin gear, generally. Carvin gear usually represents a great value at its new prices. Even more so used.

So, with good values, you "get more than you pay for," and with overpriced items, "you get less than you pay for."

I didn't want to suggest it's a hard and fast rule just that it's a consideration that few of us make in the "heat of battle".

I do believe the RS cabinets are the best match I've found. I imagine they are tuned with their product in mind. Having said, that I'm sure other cabs sound just as good. Try calling a few dealers over the phone. You'd be surprised at how much money this can save you at times. Good luck either way.

I loved the RS212...even more so after I sold my last one (seller's remorse). I think that's a great match with the RH on multiple levels and a great all around cab. It can get you close to some 410s and the footprint (excluding the depth...ha! If you can simply "exclude" the depth) is less then a lot of 210s. It's not a bad carry. It sounded fantastic with a PF500 and SVT7PRO (SVT had to sit on a single cab sideways though...not a great look)

I do wish I had gotten a good grip on setting up the semi-para eq before I let it go.

That said, my experience is that I've felt the pairings were every bit as good (or better) with Genz Benz, Bergantino and Schroeder cabs. I make no claims to having a Golden Ear, and I flat out admit that I don't hear a lot of distinctions that others do, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think any time you're talking about a good cab, you're talking about a good cab. As long as there isn't some offensive conflict of characteristics, it's probably going to sound good.

At the last GTG we had, there was a member who brought a fEarless (? I get my fearless and fearfuls mixed up). He was enthralled with the RH750. He spent almost the entire time A/Bing his SVT7PRO and the RH on his cab. Walked away saying he was strongly considering switching. Another great pairing.

New church setup with in ears and I'm thinking about picking up ANOTHER RH450 to use strictly as a Preamp/DI to go with my pedalboard on an ampless stage. My other church I play at I use my RH450 sitting on my RS210/RS212 stack. I run into FOH and the sub but they've cut me back some, so now I'm hitting the master at about or below 11:00 in a 300 seat room. Low ceilings with almost square room with a corner quarter round stage. The Ampless room is a tall long rectangle with stuttered side walls and a sloping floor that seats about 400 or so. Maybe more. I'll bring my head and try this setup Sunday.

I have a POG2 on my board and there's a point where tone turns to mud whether I'm using my TC Rig with the RS210/212 stack or my Hartke 15 cabs or even the Eden rig with 210/212 cabs at one of the churches I play at. There's a point at around low F# that -1 octave won't be clear or higher at -2 octave with ANY CABINET.
