Team Trace Elliot! Part II

I want that 1200w 16x10 rig, that is damn cool!

Anyway, as always, this thread is pretty much porn for Traceophiles. Lots of cool gear pics and whatnot.

Has anyone ever tried one of the seemingly rare Trace basses? They pop up on ebay now and then for quite a lot of money (maybe $1800 or so). Are they any good? Just curious, probably wouldn't actually buy one unless I had a chance to try it first.

I don't know if I've posted my full Trace rig as of yet. I sold my Trace GP7SM 250 recently as it wasn't enough power for my current projects. I'm running a 1048H and 1818 together, both red stripe series cabinets. Powered by a Peavey Tour Series 450, an A.R.T. TPS II pre-amp as well as a 1989 A.R.T. SGE Super Effector that adds a considerable amount of tone and punch to this rig. It's a monster! My best friend through this madness is of course my Peavey Cirrus 6 string.-Luke

Count, no it's a 7 pin DIN cable. Since it's got 4 buttons it needs more than just a regular unbalanced 1/4 inch cable to make all the connections, and there are also multicolored LED lights for each button that are powered by the amp. But the ones Peavey sells are 25' so they should meet just about anybody's needs. Not sure how much they want for them.

Gotcha. At this point I think it's a notch more than I need- I'm playing older heads- an SMX and an SM model. Those are 90s, and there's no comp on the GP7SM. I'm gonna pass- but thanks for the info and offer. I'm sure Ebay or good ol' Craigslist will move that though. Hang here and it'll probably move along pretty soon...

I realize this didn't really answer your question, but the MK V is said to be the pinnacle of 'Back-In-The-Day' Trace Elliot amp stuff- if it were me, I'd do it.

I was a dang fool, of course, to sell my MK IV off, but the SMX I also had, and still have, has suited me very well- absence of the UV light notwithstanding! :smug: It's the SMX' dual-band comp that won me, but I tell you I think the build quality and parts on the older stuff is better. May last longer too.

I had one, it was my main gigging bass for 5 years or so. Killer basses IMO, they are made by Status Graphite and of the usual SG quality.

I sold mine only to fund my Sadowsky. Wouldn't mind getting another one later on. :)
