Tech 21 VT Bass 1969 head!

I used to play my Mesa 400+ at wedding gigs...does that count?

As another who has abandoned regular heads for a pre/power setup so I could get beef in the power section, I can understand people being underwhelmed by 300w. Unless you have an extremely well designed power management system (read that as 'as good a technology as TC Electronics used to fleece people') I can't see this being much of a head turner. Even 300w micro-amps aren't head turners anymore.

Yeah, they coulda just called it 500W ...

I'm not sure why, if you want SVT tone with lots of power in a manageable size, you wouldn't just go with an SVT 7Pro.

I run a vt1969 through two tech21 b410vt cabs. Both are 8 ohm, which gives me a 4ohm load. It flat rips on stage and with the direct out...300 is plenty.

Hi there,

Got the VT 1969 head, very satisfied with it so far, playing metal... not weddings :wink:
Played in some bars and some small stages w/ power problems !

However, my band will have a big gig on very big stage.
There will be 2x Ampeg SVT 810s on stage.

Can I connect both of them to the VT 1969 ?
Or do I just can use it with only 1 810 ?

I ask this because Ampeg 810 are rated 4 ohms.
If I connect the 2 cabs to the VT 1969, 1 cable by side with the 2 jack connectors on the back of the head, will this be 2 ohms total or still 4 ohms total ?

The connectors on the back are parallel, so it will see a 2 ohm load. Sorry.

Looks like they took the advice and made a 1000 watt version. Too bad it's over $1800.... They really aren't paying attention to what's available already these days are they......

It's too bad they keep botching this one up, I like my VT Bass pedal a lot and would be excited to have that tone in a head unit with enough watts, but NOT EVER AT THAT PRICE POINT!
