Tech Metal Bassists?

Erland is sick as hell, the new blood red throne is brutal. The new dude for Cephalic Carnage is badass, so is the dude from the Faceless. The new All Shall Perish has some cool bass stuff on it as well, and the guitar playing is amazing, Chris is like a little Rusty Cooley now.

i've actually never head of the term tech metal. maybe i have (?). there are too many damn labels! when it comes to specifics i've always thought of the dillinger escape plan as "math core". i know it sounds ridiculous but yea.......

+1 Never heard of tech metal, I've heard of math-core, which is characterized by odd meters/time sigs and technical fast playing that blows your mind, bands like Meshuggah.

+1 for Arif Mirabdolbaghi. Dude's one of the finest bassist I've ever heard. And his Spectors are SO cool

Tech Metal and Mathcore are essentially the same thing. It just means that the music is very 'technical' ei: odd time signatures that are subject to seemingly random change as well as (essenitally) instrument wankery. That being said, I love it!

tech metal and math core are pretty close, but i think mathcore as more of a more agresive type.

tech metal i think if focused on taking odd time signatures and stuff and making it flow well. like martyr for example. also using weird techniques that you wouldnt expect falls under tech metal imo

I think people are still kinda unclear as to what "tech metal" is. Most bassists in technical death metal bands are good. They are usually present in the mix and play all up and down the neck.
