You'd think at the high prices boutique pedals go for they'd be proud enough and could afford some good examples of what they actually sound like.
I just don't understand when you can get other 'boutique' for cheaper lol
maybe its the lack of money and funds in me but I would prefer a well made middle of the line product than something insanely over priced,...
maybe im just destined to never touch moog, D*A*M and these pedals...

Moog is nowhere near as expensive as D*A*M and Toneczar and others of their ilk. Buy used. I've owned three different moogers, and never spent more than $220 (I got my LPF for 165) on any of them. That's well into the reasonable price realm, especially for all they do.

Here's my point:
To me a build like this is worth at least 2x as much as say...
a build like this.

So somebody who makes what looks like an unoriginal design with twenty odd components in a shiny box should charge twice what the people at tech21 who have designed something pretty novel with a hell of a lot more going on under the hood do? I don't see that logic. Not that I have a problem with the prices that's his call and yours if you wanna spend the asking price.
I really doubt you've anything to do with Monolith, the guy was pretty straight up about his connections when he posted on stonerrock about his cabs.
I've played a Tonebender, and I can't conceive of any way that the vintage mojo parts multiplies its value by 4-15 times.

I won't debate the merits or engineering of the VT here.
I don't like it. Plenty do. Sad for me, Whoopee for them.
I was using that pedal as an example of Percieved Value.
In that I percieve this to be worth more than that.
Monolith hand makes his one at a time. I respect that.
I love the wood sides, the stamped labels, the design.
It is worth AT LEAST twice as much to me as what I percieve the average bass palyer's value of their mass produced VT. So, the price does not bother me.
If I want it, I pay it. THAT was my point.
If you want a VT, You pay 150.00. Its no different.
You percieve that to be "worth it".

Of course I have NOTHING to do with monolith.
If I did, I would say so because those are the rules and THAT would be good business practice.
Am I wrong, I thought this is an effects forum where you come to share effects 'discoveries', expand your GAS and ask questions? This isn't some ninja/viral marketing ploy.
I think they look pretty cool and although they're pretty expensive I could see people coming around to them if they sound really amazing. Time will tell...
FWIW I sent Wade an email about getting some clips up. He replied promptly and said that he is generating more interest and is trying to get something put together this week.
I agree that they may be a little steep for my wallet but it would be nice to see if there is anything to fuss about.
As far as the design goes; I like the inclusion of the wooden runners. Seems as though they may be a little bit of a b**** to fit on a crowded pedalboard though.

Funnily I use a VTBass (covered in tape so I don't have to look at the horrible graphics) as a pre amp and a few hand made (by myself) pedals. I do agree the Monolith pedals look amazing and probably sound great too but I think they're on the expensive side. Then again I can make my own so my perceived value of handmade pedals is probably less than yours. Fair enough.
I'm still looking forward to hearing clips of these pedals mostly due to the fact that they do look absolutely amazing.
Sorry that I came across negative but I don't think there's any comparison between the aesthetic beauty of these pedals and the amount of engineering R&D put into the VTBass. Can we agree to disagree on that point?

Just FWIW, we have had those here before, and they happen all the time on TGP, so some of us are hyper-suspicious. Sorry about that.
As a designer I certainly understand paying a premium for a high-end product that matches aesthetics with quality, but the function must remain the first and foremost concern.
Until we get clips and opinions they're just pretty paperweights.

I think the most expensive pedal ive bought has been subdecay? combination of ibanez, boss, devi, subdecay and proco has done me fine,... not trying to be too rude but for the price factor esp converting from US to AUD too many pedals seem out of reach for the average joe, I think that was the point I was trying to make when I said I was never destined to touch the pedals I mentioned

To me, the whole wooden sides thing is just a new, fancier version of the trend a year and a half ago to put pedals into the smallest box ever (which it seems like Malekko has capitalized on - kudos!). All this does is drive prices up for fancy boxes. Give me functionality in a box that's pedalboard friendly w/out tons of wasted internal space. Just my two cents!
