tell me about Super Ferrite pickups...need info...

Does anyone have a t bird route or T bird bass that would be interested in testing this A5/Neo T bird prototype? Looking for quick installation along with review. Audio or even better video would be appreciated. The Neo EBO on the 916 pickups YouTube is just a down and dirty video that has been very helpful. No crazy production value necessary.

Two of these were built, one is already on its way to @58kites and this one is ready to ship out in trade for test/review. Just looking for honesty. If you test and don't like something constructive criticism is helpful. Trying to see if A5/Neo is beneficial to tone / output / overall sound. The Neos attached are relatively small. If not much is noticable larger Neos could be used. Just wanted to add to the original without totally changing the basic sound

It's a sound I associate with rounds, but I like the idea of never changing strings on my 6-string. I sprang for some TI Flats but am having second thoughts. It's a Birdsong with super close string spacing.

I've got a Peavey G Bass with the 916 Super Ferrites (it has an added neck pup for Ric placements.) I put EB Cobalt Flats on it, and it sounds great.

I have been running Cobalt flats on my '84 Foundation since 2017. It's a great combo. Both the SFs and the Cobalts (even after long breaking in and being thumpy) have an aggressive top end, so you can still get some bite, if needed.

Thanks, just what I was wondering! I thought maybe the cramped spacing + lower tension (+ shorter scale) might make for challenging intonation here and there, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

Those Aguilar bricks I had on before sounded so sterile by comparison, especially on the C string. I think the exposed blades on the super ferrites look amazing, too! Hey thread. Does anyone know how the 916 Super Ferrites do with a 9.5'' or smaller fretboard radius? Since these have a decently flat profile for the blade pole piece, I would be uncertain if string to string balance might be an issue.

All of my basses with the 916 (or original Peavey SFs) have a 10" fretboard radius' and they sound great without string to string issue for me for what it is worth.

DOOOO IIIIT!!!!! I love Ibbys and would be curious what these sound like in that type of bass.

My high C sounds less full than the same notes on the G string, but that's cuz the C gauge is in guitar territory. The notes really pop with the tone maxed out, and rolling off the tone produces a smooth, articulate tone. On another note, I wonder if flats would have a less twangy C ...

Does compression help even things out between the strings or no?

Yes it adds some heft to the C and evens it out in relation to the other strings for sure. I use a Diamond Comp. I find cranking the treble on my Alien Audio preamp pedal (into an Ashdown 300 with the EQ bypassed) also helps.

I am debating putting these TI Flats on but am not sure if that'll spoil the fun of shredding. Someone called super ferrites "the angry piano tone," and they can definitely do that with rounds!
