Tensions in my Fish tank!

Not sure what kind they are but they are long and sleek with a sort of tiger pattern on them. I introduced them to the tank and after about a day they started to corral the other fish who have been in the tank for months. They chase and bite small pieces of their tales off and the original resident fish are looking rather beat up.

I talk to my fish, I know they can't understand what I am saying but I tell them they don't have to compete for food and it's not a dog eat dog world. I care for them all as equals and they should live in peace because there is plenty of food. These new tank mates just don't seem to understand. I could take them back to the creek but that would be so un fair. :(

You introduced fish that have always needed to be predators to a tank with fish that have never needed to be predators? What did you expect?

If the original fish are tropical, this won't work. You may have signed their death warrant- the locals probably have some kind of organism that the OF (Original Fish) have no immunity to and if they start looking ike they have patches of fluff or opaque areas, they'll need help.

Get a book that explains what species play well together. Or, get a larger, more aggressive fish like an Oscar and kiss the OF goodbye. Kiss the new ones goodbye, too- an Oscar will attack a Piranha of similar size.

Fish from a wild environment are used to a certain level of competition and behave accordingly. You have doomed ALL the fish, wild and domestic to almost certain death.

all the fish were doomed to certain death from the moment they were born.

he's just speeding up the process a bit.
