The 18FH500 had a more balanced tone than you’d expect from an 18. It wasn’t all deep low end. Even though the highs roll off lower with that large cone, the mids were pretty good.

Yeah, Duke sometimes referred to it as a "super 15."

The BNA sealed 1822 used a Faital 15FH500 which worked out quite well. Here is a build thread for one I had made.

Thanks! I actually have two of its ferrite motored brethren (the 18fh510).

Oops, probably because it’s one of my PM. There were some in progress construction pics that I liked. Good sounding cab but it took some power to make it sing.

Given the broadband sensitivity of the driver, it surprised me that you say it takes some power to sing. With that said, my 18fh510 cabinets do too.

It was that cabinet that inspired me to build my 18+2” compression driver. While I’m sure I didn’t get the crossover as good as Duke would have, it’s a very nice cabinet.

With two ports plugged, the tuning frequency is in the very low 30s, perhaps high 20s (I can’t find the impedance plot). I wonder with this tuning, in a fairly small cabinet if I’m getting a sound similar to the 1822, albeit with a different transient response.

Duke told me fairly recently that he was never really satisfied with the way low end manifested with the TC118s. But I was blown away by the original prototype when I heard it at a Seattle GTG and might well have snagged it if a friend didn't jump first. The one I had is in a safe place with a close friend and I reckon he'll get tired of the size eventually, so it may yet come home to roost again!
