I play in the Fort Worth Area and have been bouncing around a couple funk projects and have a steady gig with a Reggae band called Lowrise. We just got back from San Antonio and try to play 4-5 times a month.
I'm currently gigging the sexiest MTD Z5 custom ever construed with an eden stack.
I second whoever had the bass BBQ idea back there, I'll throw in a keg of shiner.

Are those Nordstrand pickups I see?
I live in Denver now, but I grew up and cut my musical teeth in Austin in the late 80s and early 90s. I played actively in the Jazz program at UT while I was in school there from '89 to '93, and gigged in and around Austin doing everything from 6th Street cover band stuff to jazz pickup gigs to theater pit work (I hooked up with the Greater Tuna guys and did a few of the musicals they ran - great pay, easy steady work, cool people, get into theater if you can).
These days I play in a Funk Rock band in Denver called Fina Dupa. I'm playing a Skjold 6 string and a Valenti 5-string mainly, through a Markbass LittleMark II head and an Avatar 410 cabinet on most gigs. I have some other stuff too.

Yesshir, All the effort and work was done by tommy Tbone0813 and Pete Skjold. Its got the Nordstrands as well as an audere pre. "The pickups are EACH wired with a switch that will allow them to be placed in Parallel, Single Coil, or Series. There is also a switch that will allow you to switch the Audere 4 band preamp to Hi, Mid, or Lo impedance. The options are limitless." -Tommy
The set up on this makes the bass in my opinion, yeah the pickup options go on forever and you can get any sound you could ever want, but they way Pete made this bass feel is incredible. I cant speak highly enough of pete skjolds work and I would pick this bass up over the pedullas, warriors, warwicks and alembics I've owned.

We have nearly two acres. And a jam room. And a guitarist next door. Husband plays drums...
He calls all y'all my boyfriends. "Talking to your boyfriends again? Can't you get any of *them* to buy you a case for your acoustic?" (He jokes.) I wonder what he'd say if I came to him with this, "Honey, can we have my boyfriends over for barbeque, jamming, and bass gearhead conversation?"
It'll have to be a potluck, too, since we's po raht now.

Pete is the kind of guy who will take some time away from being a new father and running a batch of 40-something basses to help install a set of pickups in an MTD for somebody. Just truly loves the work.Nashville,

I originally started this thread for TX bassist to be able to network and chat but i am loving seeing your instruments (that Z5 is sweet) but lets see some "family" pics. Post a pic of all of your "children". Let's see 'em!

i can see it now... about 20 or 30 people together jamming, having fun. and when it comes time to eat, we find out that nobody brought food. instead, everyone brought beer. that'd be awesome!

Up till now, I have mainly been an electric player. After New Years, the electrics are going in the closet and I am going to concentrate only on my new DB
