TEXAS BASSISTS UNITE...

We finally got a PA and we be gigging (two shows already -- next one is Jan 19th at Rack Daddy's in N. Dallas/Richardson).

Check out our Link Removed.

By the way, for you Longview bassists, is Chip still hanging out around Longview (killer local bass player)?
Also, there's a local drummer that's very good at classic rock -- goes by the nickname Uncle Dallas -- he and I were in a high school garage band back in the day.

I used to live in Mt. Pleasant (and that general area) on and off.

I think i know Chip. does he play for anyone around here? UNKLE D IS THE MAN!!! haha i have jammed with Unk D before. he's a good guy. I beilieve he is still running a jam session during the week at a little bar outside of gladewater. He's on MySpace if you want to look him up.

I really don't know what bands he's been with.
There's a pretty good local band 'Borderline' that lost their bass player a few years back and wanted to get Chip, but he was supposed to be going out on tour with some big-name band.
I know he's sat in on some of Uncle Dallas' jams (me too while I was briefly back in the area).

You know that Gary Willis is from Longview, right?
He left Longview and went to school at UNT back when it was NTSU.

I actually got approached by one of borderline's old drummers not that long ago. If you are ever in town on a sunday night you should go by "Texas Players" and check out the Mr. Jones jam session. Starts around 9 ish.

Really?! Gary Willis? Wow, i know we got some celebs from around here but i didn't think anyone that cool would be from here. Well that, indeed, is the bee's knees!

I was in a country cover band called "Borderline" this summer. Wasn't the same band I'm sure, cause we weren't very good. :) Well, they... ;)

OK guys (and gals)... I guess since i am the OP on this thread people have started PMing me for club member numbers. I originally just started this thread as a networking center for Texas bassists. I guess my question is, should this be turned into a Texan Bassist Club? I don't neccesarilly want to be incharge of the club but would sure love to be a member if we start it up. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks guys

Actually, that sounds like a good idea. I'd sig it.

Cherie, any news for a gtg?

Also, Houston area bassists, if you're a rock/indie/psychedelic band looking for opening acts, or acts to play with, my band could greatly use your help. PM if you're interested.

No; this is a mostly classic rock band (w/some orig. material).
They do a bit of semi-modern country -- the drummer is the main singer -- his name is Rich Eubanks.

I just remembered I have a CD of theirs they gave me & it has their website (www.borderline.net) -- looks like they are still working.

Ok? Ok. So I guess this is the beginning of the Texas Bassists Club. PM me for your number. I'll start a list on here as more numbers are assigned.

hey y'all...i just made my first trip to the houston area to look for a home, as i will be moving there in the next month or so...see this thread...
anyway, let me first say, that i was really impressed...everything IS bigger in texas...holey moley...those highways reminded me of LA and dang if that sky ain't huuuuuge! i got to say, too, that everyone i met was real nice. none of the east coast attitude, that we *love* up here in philly.
so, at this moment, it looks as though we'll be settling in humble, just off of the 8 beltway.
so do i get a number yet?
peace...
