Wishing you, your wife, and your family well. Hard times are... hard, for sure. I'm glad the community here has been a good support for you. It sure has for me as well.

You've just taken the site to the next level - it's TalkBass, not PlayBass. Sometimes, I wish the latter existed more in my world!

To @CletusMarley - it's been a few weeks since this thread started - I hope it all turned out well. This place is an oasis in the desert as far as the internet is concerned. I come here more for the "hang" than the bass content these days, but both are welcome distractions from the rest of the crazy world we currently live in. And I also feel a certain kinship with many members here that eludes me in other circles. TB is an amazing place for sure!

Thank you for the kind words! She was actually discharged from the hospital yesterday and moved to a rehab facility. The plan going forward will be physical therapy until she is mobile again. She's very happy to be out of the ICU and is one step closer to coming home!

I was in ICU in december with CHF. After coming home, just tying my shoelaces was exhausting. I read TB incessantly about setups, relief, filing.
Ordered a $64 Glarry J bass, filed frets, nuts, sanded neck. Did very well. Now I'm not afraid of anything. Ended up with an amazingly good
budget bass.

Just seeing this tonight as I peruse, I am so glad things are on a posative curve since you posted your update. I truly hope things are great in y'alls world.

I don't get personal with very many people at all on the internet. I mentioned somewhere a while back that I took a break from the internet and that stands true. I kinda dipped out on TalkBass and youtube bass content for over a year. And all of a sudden Im posting like crazy seemingly around the clock. lol Lots of heavy stuff went down in addition to the break. My wife has been very ill. She had open heart surgery for the second time a couple weeks ago. The weeks leading up to that surgery were crazy . Many hours of that time was me sitting in her room in the hospital spamming TalkBass while I was waiting for her to wake up from a surgery or just trying to make it through the next challenge. I have two teenage daughters that do summer theater and I I work a full 40 hours a week. It's been a ride. She has one more surgery on Friday. Its not a scary one and they think this starts moving the needle in the right direction. lol I'm very hopeful for the first time in a very long time.

Re-Joining the community again after being gone so long. It's really helped my mental health. We have a very cool place here to hang out and have fun. Scope some killer basses with some very cool people. Fun but civil posting. Super low drama. lol It's really carried me through the last month and I'm so thankful to all of you. I'm just an oldschool pothead that loves playing bass and listening to music. I've always felt right at home here. You can get lost in so many places in TalkBass. lol Thanks so much! \m/

Thanks for all the kind words! She came home today! Lots has happened since the last time I posted about it. She recovered fully from the heart surgery but her legs stopped working and she eventually became paralyzed from the waist down. They thought it might have been because she was on echmo for so long. They ran some tests and diagnosed her with MS. A couple weeks ago they re-diagnosed her with CIDP. The treatments were the same as what she already got for the MS diagnosis. She started making progress. Lots happened between now and then... Ups and downs....But she is home!! She is in a wheelchair so there will be challenges, but we had a great first day and worked our way through some things that worried both of us. We hope she will walk again at some point. She's getting stronger every day. One of the things we checked off tonight from our have to do when she comes home list was to eat nachos in bed with a movie. lol Superman... I'm a lucky man!!

Glad to hear she's back home with you. Hospitals can obviously be life savers but too much time in a hospital bed can end up doing its own kind of damage. My mom just spent two months in the hospital for heart failure. She spent so much time immobile that she lost all her muscle and could barely walk. She's been out of hospital for three weeks now and her level of mobility has increased significantly.

All the best to you and your wife - I wish her a fast recovery!
