I believe P-basses with the tone on full are often used... thanks guys
I agree that a P-Bass in any of its many versions is a great choice.

I'm pretty sure that guy has been touring/recording with Ps...for like as long as they have been a band.
Whatever you do don't use a five (or more) string.

And you can probably get away with using less than four strings...![]()
LMAO I Love The Muffs!!!Very true -- saw LA band The Muffs and their bassist didn't have a G string on his P-bass -- he had even removed the G tuning machine!![]()
since you guys are home for a little while with your drummer issue you should be working instead of selling your car!how is it not punk to have nice gear? i have very nice gear and it's because i worked at a ****** job between tours to buy it. i also got a lot of it pretty cheap by not simply going to guitar center and paying full price off the shelf. similar to how a lot of punks way back when may have swept floors or cleaned dishes to buy that late 60's p bass (which was really just a "used p bass" at the time) from a pawn shop. or the guitarist who scored his gibson less paul off a junkie struggling to pay rent.
how punk is this? i just had to sell my car so i could apply for a passport (european tour nov/dec this year) and stock up on strings for the next couple months. could i have sold one of my 5 basses? could i have unloaded one of my two ampeg 8x10s? sure, but i'm a punk bassist, i gotta have my priorities in order.
The only time I've seen him with anything other than a P was a music video. Even their website only has him using a P in the pics (A stingray is seen in one studio pic, but he isn't playing it).Nope. Joe from Rise Against/88 Fingers Louie use/used G&L JB-2's. He's even listed on the G&L site. And I'm pretty sure he's now switched to, or at least also play, Fender Jazzes (But I might be wrong on that).
Sorry for debating on trivial stuff like this, but I can't help it![]()

I'd really like to see him with his G&L.
he now uses p's but used to use jazz basses.
He also have the ugliest(coolest?) bass I've ever seen:

dude i use the squire telebass with the humbucker at the neck, and it rocks for punk.
Just get anything with pickups and play as hard on your strings as you can, also turn your tone as sharp as it can get.
The new sunburst modified RI Tele bass? I've always wondered if that bass was any good -- what do you think of it?
