The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoff Thread

I just got home from the Sharks / Flames game 7. It was really an AMAZING series by BOTH teams. The Flames gave their best effort in game 6 and the Sharks responded in game 7. It was bittersweet seeing Owen and Wayne Primeau as the last Flames in the handshake line.

Hopefully the Sharks penalty kill improves or the Dallas series could be a short one. :help:

As the Ghosthunters say: "on to the next..."

Young? he is 31.... Only 1 year younger then Nabokov. :)

I mean young as in like 10 year old kids who are starting out playing goal. Clearly Kiprusoff skipped that lesson

Although I'm one to talk, I let in a similar goal once. We did end up winning 6-1, and the goal went in with a minute left in the game. It was kinda embarassing though, there I was, watching the puck slide along the ice, feeling confident that I was going to stop it and then cover it up. Went under my stick and through my pads and I yelled some obscenities as I tried to smother it with my glove before it crossed the line.

The Caps loss in OT was such a downer :(

What a crappy day.

I missed last night because of band practice.
I'll be there 2-nite, God willing.

I still recall not being able to sleep the last time Philly blew a 3-1 series' lead vs. the Caps.
In a way, getting older & life being what it is...you realize some **** doesn't matter as much as it used to.

Either way, I'll sleep like a baby tonight.
:atoz:

I got home in time to see the OT period. :( Yet another Caps playoff disappointment. In all these years I recall only two Caps playoff highlights: 1) the comeback against Philly you mentioned above, and 2) reaching the Stanley Cup finals (and getting swept by Detroit).

Best of luck to ya.

...and I missed the OT period. I didn't want to get sucked in only to see Philly blow it (although the one game I did stick it out...they beat Pittsburgh in, what, the 5th OT? Yeah, I called in sick that day).

Anyway, I still recall Dale Hunter stickin' it to Philly way back when. Always thought Hunter shoulda been a Flyer. ;)

I thought the caps were going to win.. they kicked ass in the 3rd.

That play Ovy made to Federov that didn't go would have been sweet and it was very close.

Aj

One of the highlights I saw before OT (I missed the 1st 3 periods) was of a very controversial Philly goal: looked like a Flyer checked a Cap into Huet, which should've been a penalty. But whatever, I'm not gonna bitch and moan that Philly didn't deserve the win because stuff like that happens, the refs aren't perfect, you just gotta deal with it.

Respectfully; concerning the Kapanen goal. Thoresen's play on Morrison was legal. Morrison could have made more of an effort to stay off of his own goalie. Thoresen was playing the puck and didn't even touch Huet hence no penalty.

I tend to agree with you, warwick.ROY (sorry, this is a hockey thread).
Next time, Huet should make sure to knock the net off its moorings...that almost always brings a whistle.

...and I coulda seen the call going the other way.
