4 years later, here's a follow up on this thread...
I still have the Epi, I bought two SVT210AV cabs and an MB800 head (now I have the 200, 500 & 800 set) but now four years on I have a new dilemma. I posted a couple of comments in other threads about concerns I have over using the MB800 at 4 ohms with speakers only rated at 200 a piece. I've been VERY careful with stage volume, but I am beginning to move into new genres that will require a little more variation in my sound and make those speakers work a little harder, and I'm getting nervous.
Since I love the form factor of the stacked Ampeg line array (I'm 6'4" and with these stacked I can actually hear myself) I'm toying with swapping out the 10's in the Ampegs for a set of Eminence SC-10 16's, this would increase my wattage capability for both speakers from 400 to 600 watts and make me less worried about blowing them out with the MB800 (I have been using the MB500 for sanity sake, but I prefer the FET pre on the MB800.)
Anyway, I find myself in the same pickle as I was four years ago, I need: two 210 cabs stacked, around 800 watt headroom, ultra lightweight (under 35 lbs) and cost effective (and yes, I know the "bassist's equation": light/loud/price - pick two)
I have been preening over a couple of Barefaced Two10s (my silver bullet to this situation) but it would be $1800+ for them and who's got that kind of money!?!
Suggestions welcomed and encouraged!
