The 3 fender companies... which one?

Of the three--Fender. ............I was a dedicated Fender under i found my primary--Birdsong(short scale) and then CTs but there is still a place in my heart for fender..My first a 72 fender jazz(candy apple red)!!!!!

I have five Fenders (MIA J, MIA P, MIM/A project fretless P, two MIA Strats), one G&L (L-1500), and zero MusicMan instruments, though I think their quality is outstanding and I have minor GAS for a Sterling HS. Thus the order:

Fender
G&L
MusicMan

G&L is the obvious choice of the discerning user. Some here will disagree and that's OK. I have no problem with, and fully support their right to be on the "incorrect" team.

Music Man all the way. I love Fenders, but I love Music Man basses even more. I don't have any experience with G&L (although I wish I did).

I have given Fender a 1 point lead over MusicMan. Just picked up the Fender Roscoe Beck V to add to the collection and it definitely stands over the Stingray. I'll always have a soft spot for EB but today I'm a Fender man!

If I walked into a Bass shop with the money I would probably walk out with Fender J Deluxe. The one I used to own had superior construction, the neck was the nicest I've played and the electronics were ridiculously versatile.

I'd say the MM is the least versatile. I know, I know, but that's my opinion. I never held on to them for long.

I agree with this opinion. No matter how many switches or dial I turn, a MM just sounds like a MM to me. They are great basses, just not my cup of tea.

I voted for Fender, although I have really enjoyed every G&L I have ever played.

Not me... i had two of those, were great but had minor construction problems, now my Stingray 5 HH it's completly in another level.
Sorry i love my jazz but for new instruments Musicman beats Fender in consistency in a big way, and G&L it's something in between.

I voted for Fender, although I have really enjoyed every G&L I have ever played.

Use the right compressor and you can get an array of sounds. Also when adding the right mids from the amp, a musicman can really blossum.

2 G&L (they are heavy and don't hold thier value at resale time, but great sounding and playing basses)

G&L-my main bass is a clear red l-2000 and i plan on eventually ordering an l-1500 w/ reverse headstock and either in blueburst (if it won't be to dark around the edges) plain black, or if i am not 100% w/ the blueburst I'll have it redone in blackburst.

EBMM: I still really want a bongo *the six to be specific, and would more than anything love to come across a sabre.

Fender: never really had the best results with fender. no matter what something just wasn't right for me. but if someone gave on to me, i definately wouldn't complain.

I voted for the Musicman. I have a Musicman Stingray HH 5-string on order right now through Chuck's Washington Music Center in Wheaton, MD. I should have it by sometime early next year.

Before the double humbucker models came out I wasn't too fond of Musicmans. That one pickup didn't make for a very versatile bass. After trying the double humbucker and messing around with the eq and 5-position switch I found many sound possibilities--everything from a Fender Jazz vibe to a Fender P-Bass vibe.

Acoustically the bass sounded excellent and ALL of the amplifiers I played it through just enhanced its qualities.

This is by far one of the best investments I ever made in a bass.

I'll probably get a Fender American Deluxe FMT/QMT 5-string or The Fender Jazz Victor Bailey 5-string later on to replace the Ibanez K5 Fieldy bass that I have.

I have to say I've never owned or even played a G&L, so I have to comment only on what I have experienced.

A couple years ago I bought a MM Sub 4 which I owned for maybe two months and sold because I didn't dig the tone. This past summer I bought a MM SR5 and sold it within a month-cause I didn't like the tone. If I ever desire one again I will check into the two pickup versions, which should be more versatile.

I really dig the old school thing passive Fender's have got goin' on. Yea, gimme a USA or a MIJ P or J anyday!

You have got to remember, the Fender always works in any situation.

I saw Fender, I have a MIA Jazz and I also should be getting a MIA P-Bass soon. I also jave a Musicman but I really dont care for it so im going to replace it with the MIA P-Bass

I really like how EBMM's feel. A Sterling (or more likely a Sterling 5HH) is could definitely be in my future.
