The 3 fender companies... which one?

OK so everyone has there preferences. This threas is not about which one is best but which one you'd spend your money on to buy a new instrument today... and once again we are not talking CS stuff. but you have to choose one (or you can put them in order)

i voted Fender before i read your post.

so i change my vote to MusicMan, if we where talking CS stuff then it would be Fender but jist on standard gear alone then it is MusicMan

I would have to say Musicman Stingray 5. Most consistent bass ever, has the best B string of the 3, and the sound is killer for rock and R&B which is what I play. The neck is also killer.

I love the mids of some G&Ls but the B string dept. and consistency lacks sometimes IMHO.

Fender is great, but is the most inconsistent out of the box. The sound can the old school tone to grinding rock, and can be heard on countless recordings. The 5s all feel blocky to me though.

I don't like the fact that if I bought MIA or MIM one today, I'd have to mod it. ie (badass bridge, electronics sometimes) Every newer jazz I have seen has a problem with the saddles staying in correct postion. Especially on the G string. If its a vintage or Custom Shop fender, then its usually awesome, but too overpriced IMO.

I'm a Fender guy, but at some point I would like to add EBMM and G&L to my stable. They all make fantastic instruments.

I don't have one any more, but the MM SR5 was instrumental (pun intended) in helping me define what I want in my current instruments. I would certainly play one with pride.

I just found Fenders that I like few and far between and the G&L's are OK, but I never warmed up to them. Not dissing any of them - YMMV!

I only say that because my stingray is the best bass i've played in a really long time. But right now i have super hard fender GAS, so i would spend my money right now on a Fender. I've never got to really spend too much time with G&Ls but i know there good basses, i just need to actually sit down and play one.
