I plan on joining once I feel bored enought to type the whole list, I keep track of basses serial numbers thus I have always kept a piece of paper with the bass name/color and serial number on it, i just wrote down number 91 of course a few have been guitars about 5. Quick scan shows I have owned 45 of these 91 in the last year , 29 fenders.

My best guess is that I've owned between 125 - 135 basses over the past 30 years. I currently own 8 of them.

OK, let's get this started! (Yep, I'll assign numbers...)

I'm starting a new club -- the "50+ Basses Owned Club". I don't really want to join the G&L club or the Fretless club or the Lakland club and get some number in the stratosphere, so I'm gonna start my own.

So let's hear it! Who's owned over 50 basses in their lifetime? You don't have to list every one of 'em, just a list of manufacturers and a number of them that've passed through your hands. Like this:

G&L - 30
Lakland - 13
Fender - 8
EB/MM - 4
Epiphone - 3
Gibson - 2
Ibanez - 2
Guild - 1
Wilkins -1
Tobias - 1
Cort - 1

Let's go!

EDIT: Forgot a couple....

Ric - 1
Hofner - 1
Warwick - 1
Kay URB - 1
Englehardt URB - 1
Carruthers EUB - 1
Greco - 1
Rob Allen - 1
+1 more Fender

Didn't know this existed

104

All listed on my profile.

May I have a numbah Pah-leeez? :D

120+ since 1981. I had a list at one point, but it is long since lost and out of date. However, it would definitely include more Fender Precisions than anything else ... I'd say upwards of 30. I have 3 currently. Shockingly, the next highest in terms of ownership would be original '80s Steinbergers, which would be 11 at this point. I still have one of them, an '82 L-2.

For the short list of "wish-backs" (ones no longer owned--for whatever reason--that you wish you could somehow get back), I would put these at the top, in order of year of manufacture:
1963 Fender Precision ~ stripped Sunburst, but a factory A-neck and just ... perfect.
1972 Fender Jazz ~ Black w/ matching headstock. Killer.
1978 Guild B-301 ~ my first "real" bass
1985 Steinberger XL-2AW ~ custom ordered by me
1993 Roscoe LG-3005 Custom ~ emerald green quilt maple w/ maple board ... and the best B-string I've ever heard. Bar none.

Out of the rest there have been some oddballs like an 8-string Veillette-Citron, A fretless Ovation Magnum II (with the EQ sliders), and a custom Bootsy Space Bass. Interestingly, although I have practically owned at least one of every production bass one could likely think of over the years, never have I ever had a Rickenbacker of any model.

At the moment, I have a baker's dozen:
1973 Gibson SB-350
1975 Gibson L9-S
1980 Greco TB-900
1982 Aria Pro II CSB-450
1982 Steinberger L-2
1985 Guild SB-602 Pilot

1989 Fender Squier II Precision
1999 Warwick Streamer Standard
2008 MTD Kingston Artist 5
2010 Fender/Squier Active Jazz Bass Fretless
2015 Johnson Short Scale Precision Copy
2017 Roscoe LG-3005 Standard Plus
2020 Warmoth Custom Precision

A bunch of these are already going up on the block for sale. The ones in bold are keepers for personal reasons. The Roscoe in italics I technically own, but it is currently on the other side of the planet in transit to me.

I honestly wish I had a picture of them all ...

I'm well over 50 basses in my lifetime.... I had at most 24 at one time, scaled all the way back down to 5, went back up to about 20, thinned the herd again down to about 7 or 8, now back on the upswing, currently at 18 with a Bongo incoming and a possible Rickenbacker 4003 once I finally decide on the color bringing me back to 20 again...... 20 is a nice round number..... but then again 21 is a winner in blackjack so.........open for suggestions? lol
