Very impressed. Vinyl or Duratex? Also, did you have to do any electronic restoration such as new caps? Does it have the original Cerwin Vega? Looks great, I hope you have the opportunity to play it in a large hall someday, that's where these amps come into their full glory, anything smaller and you won't be able to hear yourself onstage without blowing the doors out in the back of the room.

Its tolex. Did it myself surprisingly. Not bad for a first time retolexing. There are a couple wonky seams,but it turned out nice. No electronic restorations,although I might take it to a tech for a once over.But it runs pretty quiet. It has a cerwin vega but I think it was reconed.It has a reddish orange band around the outside which are not on the originals.
This is a killer sounding amp.

Just added this one to the "acoustic" stable.

It's a 1978 Model 116 combo bass amp
75 watts
1 x 15"
60 lbs

Plays like a beast and is very "hot"!

Got it for an amazing $129 !

Does anyone know if there is a way to get this run into a PA system (other than mic'ing it?)

The only outs on the back are the speaker out (connected) and a pre-amp out.

Beautiful condition, that is nice. I used to run a cable from the preamp out of my 370 into a DB-1 direct box. Don't remember who manufactured that box, I bought it for around $79 bucks in the late 70s, used it for years. I think they had to use the input pad at the mixer as the signal may have been a bit hot. Come to think of it, they may have not used it at all, since they constantly told me I was too loud. 370s are a beast.

Thanks... it even came with the original acoustic casters (removed for shipping and not yet remounted for the pic).

In fact, I'm debating about putting them back on vs. getting a set of the Ernie Ball Pop-ins I use on my others... but I reluctant right now to drill new holes into this one and ruin the "classic" look.

Yes, that's what I'm afraid of... we tend to put the amps in the "backstage" area, mic them, then run into the PA... but due to a shortage of mic's, I was hoping to find a way to run directly into a DI then into the board.

Anyone else have some insight working with these older acoustics and how to get them into a modern board?

(I may also post on another board for advice on this, but thought I'd ask the acoustic collective, first).

Many of you already know this, but I think it's worth posting again (with some additional info!).

For those of you looking for info on the vintage Acoustic stuff (1970s-80s) be sure to look at the Unofficial Acoustic Amplification Website's wiki page that lists all the products... you can list them by type or in order numerically:

But, as good as it is, the data fields are still a little incomplete, especially for some of the '80s stuff... but elsewhere on their site, they have scans of some old price lists, etc. that actually have some of the hard-to-find specs for those amps/combos.

I recently acquired a vintage 1978 Acoustic Control Corporation model 116 bass amp combo (all solid state).

I love the tone from this thing, but I'm noticing that it takes a few seconds to fully power up and even longer to power down.

When I turn it on, it takes about 10 seconds for it to bring itself up to full power and volume.

Turning it off, it takes about 30 seconds to fully power down, the power light to fade out and the volume to fully disappear after a slow fade.

I still have a few days left before the "return deadline", so I am trying to decide if it is a keeper.

Can anyone comment on whether or not this is typical of the amps of this era (or maker), or is the power supply of this baby about to go and I should just return it?
