I ordered a 220 from GC. Super excited! Should be in later today. From what I've read it's rated at 125w at 4ohm and 170 at 2. I picked up a cheap peavey 115. Supposed to be 4ohm but I checked the speaker and it's only 8ohm. As I just blew my budget on this "new" stuff, will it hurt the amp at all just running it at only 8ohms? I know the power will be reduced more, but until I can get another/a different cab, will this work? I don't want to damage the amp.

It will be fine. You'll get maybe 90 watts out of it with an 8 ohm load, but it should still be pretty loud. Acoustics are voiced for projection.

Yea, I knew the wattage would go down, but I figured itd be around 80-90. I was mainly concerned about somehow messing the amp up since its designed for 4 or 2 ohm load. Thank you! I'll get to check it out this afternoon, as soon as the big brown truck gets here haha.

My Acoustic 220 is here! This thing is big! Well wide anyways. Fits perfect on my 115, if I turn it on its side lol. So far I'm diggin it. Theres no hum and hiss like I was afraid of, with it being a 70s amp. And I barely turned volume up to get a feel for the sound and what I heard I love. And that was with everything flat! Can't play it full volume at the moment, but practice is tomorrow and I will be testing this baby out haha. Here it is on a 70s Peavey 115(8ohm so...80ish watts)

Sorry for the double post but got to play the amp at full band volume today and it is just killer! Running it through an 8ohm 115 so maybe pushing 80ish watts. And I had the volume at about 10 o'clock. This thing is a beast! And the tone was just amazing. I can't imagine what this thing sounds like through the matching 215 cab pulling 4 or even 2 ohms. Earthshaking? But seriously, I'm super happy with my investment.

There's watts and then there's volume. I'm not sure what the deal is with old ACC equipment, but it's not clear that watts and volume are tightly related. As far as volume knob setting, one thing that may or may not have been intentional is that you hit max volume long before the knob is all the way around. It gave Acoustic a reputation for being ear splittingly loud, but one of the things that you have to be aware of is that turning the dial will just get you more distortion after a certain point. One of the things I have noticed about the new 360 is that the pots are more linear than the original, so I have to turn it up a bit more than the old one to get the same volume level. The cabinets project like there's no tomorrow, too. Physics says it's impossible, but for whatever reason, they sound different and better in the audience than on stage. Recently, I have had some issues hearing myself on stage and have thought about bringing a little Carvin combo I have to use for a bit of stage volume so I don't liquefy the audience. Or maybe I'm just getting old and deaf. No matter. The 360 still gets herked around and will for as long as I can do it.

Thanks for that. I've got a 4 ohm Carvin that came with it when I got it so I wasn't sure. I'm not opposed to a different speaker since I don't a probably won't ever have a 370 to pair it with.

at time's I have to revert to the pant leg flap indicator if having trouble hearing myself on stage with my 370 / 106. if can feel the pant legs flappin' , then the audience is getting a major dose of ACC. 1 1/2 - 2 volume is most that FOH guys can stand before they start wailing and gnashing teeth ;)

Gentlemen,

I had no idea there was an Acoustic Club.
Can I be counted in?
I started off with a B100 Combo then I got a B210 Neo for the B100 Combo.
I couldn't get enough so I got the following:
An Acoustic B600H Head along with a B810 and two B115's.
I have since sold the B100 Combo and B210 Neo.
Practice amp is now a B30.
Now if only I could get my hands on some original Acoustic equipment.
Gotta save my money for that though.
