The second compartment is about 8 cm, 10cm including the thickness of the wood. There is a cylindrical hole connecting them. In that cavity, only a hole the size of a wire was made. I will use this section for proper cabeling, and probably use a speakon connector to the back. The top cavity i will place in the 150, fix it from the top, add spacers below to fix it good, and i will make a grill of 4-5 cm to close it off nicely, and this will likely improve venting

Thanks for the picture and explanation, I think I get it. Pretty weird to have that chamber between the horn and 15's but I'm guessing they just wanted the shelf to support the bottom of the horn magnet versus just relying on the rear screw. Interesting. I've added the picture to my collection lol. I think your plan sounds good, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

The only thing that bothers me is that I will basically rip apart an already rare cabinet, to turn it into a crazy combo. But well, that horn looks pretty stupid anyway, so why not :d

I will make some good pictures of the original for your collection Jack.

I love the look of an original 201 -- still have fond memory of four of them in the Uriah Heep backline -- and I would never encourage anyone to modify a vintage Acoustic piece outside of repair or restoration. I don't know if you have the original horn or not, but they're very hard to come by and a blackface 150 sitting up there would look better than an empty hole. If a horn is never to be in that cabinet's future,, then there's nothing to preserve I guess.

I have the horn, but probably not with the original HF driver. As I dont need it, the only reason to put it back in is for decoration. And as i now have one 150 without casing (the blue face that sat in the 136 combo), I can free one up by installing the black face 150 in the horn space. So i guess thats a double win, but not for the originallity of the 201 obviously. I can probably send you the original horn if you are interested and want to pay shipping.

I appreciate the kind offer, but I've already got a rare 1st generation standalone Acoustic horn cabinet loaded with a blue fiberglass horn like the one used in the 261 cabinet. Acoustic OEM'd the 1st gen horn and its driver from Atlas Sound.

Here's a picture of what I believe is an original 201 horn driver. The 2nd gen 201's white fiberglass horn looks like it's still from Atlas, but I'm not sure about the driver. Could also be a later version Atlas.

If the driver you have matches the one in the picture, let me know, I might change my mind.

Congrats. Hope your wife likes it as much as you. Mine not so much. Ive been told the tool shed will be my permanent residence if another piece of Acoustic Control Corp merchandise makes it into the house. I wonder if that just applies to ACC and not Ampeg?

She doesnt know lol. I will have to hide it for a while, and then pretend that i already had this one for months :d
