The Acoustic Club

Found something for the 201

Tempting to put them in the 402. The D140F was designed by Harvey Gerst before going to ACC. The orange frames were from the 70s and not much info to be found on the reason why they made them orange. Both have a more recent cone, probably from a K140.

Wow, didn't realize how beautiful raw drivers could be. Both visually and technically.
I have always been a speaker nut. Used to take them out of things. Even stuff from the curb.
I remember going to an electronic store in '68 or so, 12 yrs old. Looking at the 15" raw speakers on the wall. Probably JBL's. Sometimes, I even touched them. :woot:
Speakers are art!

My 1973 ACC 301 18" Cerwin Vega speaker. You can't touch it.:D

Well my buyer hasn't called yet, he's quite late actually. That, and none of the modern cabs are of proper width to fit my 370 on top of them without sticking over the sides like a poorly drawn cartoon robot! I feel so stupid when things don't fit properly... It's a silly hangup, I know, but it's better than being a headstock whore (yes I have a Fender AND a Squier, and a modded Hamer, sans headstock logo... I play them all in public).

I guess I'm keeping my 106. There shall be rejoicing! Lol.
They were on for less than 12 hours. I have notifications set on JBL 15, E140 and K140. Also got two more K140 ;-)

Now I got 6 Ks, 2 Es and 2 DFs. I got them cheap ;-)
Would love a pair of Ks.

Suddenly, all I can think about is touching that speaker...:woot:
If you were here, I would probably let you touch it.
I wish I could tell you why they are cool....

I've been thinking about going to see a local guy that re-cones. Learn from him, maybe work a little with him. I'm retired now...so I got time on my hands.

...just Kidding.

Oh Jeez. Sounds like the guy is in Lodi. I just passed by him on Thursday. Now I'm in So Cal. So tempting.
Oh, I could drive there in a few scant hours, pay cash, fit it in my suv, but then I'd have to put it in my living room...forever.... cause I'd have no where else it would fit...and no way to move it ever again. It would have to go with the house...
Wow can you imagine that in your living room?
Hmmm ... I could put a tv on it....

Back in my younger/bachelor days, I almost always had my amp in the living room.
