So what's this I vaguely heard about Acoustic coming out with a 210 combo and some other stuff? Anyone know details?
And does anyone who I should complain to about the B100 and B200 combos NOT having headphone jacks and CD/MP3 inputs, which most other amps in their range do?

There is a thread over on the Unofficial Acoustic Control Corporation forum about a new mini 260 that is a new Acoustic Amplification product. This is most interesting,because the original model 260 is a dual channel 125 watt guitar 1st generation Acoustic amplifier,(it looks like a dual channel model 360 head). This mini 260 bears no resemblance to the original 260 at all.
I have not seen one in person, only a pix of it.The mini 260, as all of Acoustic Amplification's amplifiers have a 2nd generation look to them.
It looks like a mini 371 w/o a graphic eq, it has a front loaded 10"spkr in the top of the cabinet.The cabinet looks like a mini model 301HC cabinet. I wonder what the cabinet designation is going to be??
A 261 mini, a 201 mini, a 301 mini or a 371 mini???

I wish they would have just stuck with the Bxxx numbering that had been using. If the amp was called the B260H and the cab the B110 or something along those lines, it'd be a lot less confusing and it wouldn't come into conflict with the legendary Acoustic 260.
During my off period from school today, I went to GC to check out the 260. It's pretty neat, in my opinion. The cab didn't have a name from what I saw, due to the fact that they weren't sold as separates. But, it was pretty punchy, and surprisingly loud.
Approaching O/T to say that I read that thread on that forum...jeez, there are some cranky folks over there, and I thought about signing up just to tell one of them that "...the gal in the ad..." is Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Seal) and who's band (or ad) has he been in recently?
You have to understand the mentality over there. It's not about who you are, it's about what you're using. If you're not using at least a 2x15" (or a folded horn 18") and you're playing bass, you're probably doing it wrong.
Oh and that rig better be vintage Acoustic (though some Sunn users manage to blend in)
Ain't no snob like an equipment snob, and maybe we should introduce them to the high-school garage bands that demand "pro-level stacks" in the Craig's List ads...they all seem to think alike.
ummmm.... I guess I'll stand up and speak for myself on this one. I choose to use old Acoustic gear because it sounds amazing. Not just good - but utterly amazing. Say what you will and cast your suspicions but until you've plugged into well running FULL set up, be warned that "we" are all just shaking our communal head in complete astonishment at why more people haven't caught the fever and tried this stuff. Oh yea, half the reason I use it is because it's kinda ugly to me (sorry my brethren!).

You've got to understand that a bunch of really talented folks worked at this company back in the day and those folks haven't gone to sleep and stopped working up to this day. Alot of the great technological fruit that fell from the Acoustic tree has been scooped up and re-planted only to blossom into many of the innovative amps that you all covet today. Do some history homework and you'll see I'm right on this point.
Acoustic doesn't' fit everything I do on bass, so I'm not gonna sit here and try to convince anyone thats it's the new cure all vaccine but I will say that simply because it's old it shouldn't be discounted. It used to be that the guitarists were the gear snobs.... when did the bass players become so uppity? If anything, I've found the folks at the Acoustic forum to be very much into SOUND over gear 10/1 - and it's just that we've all found others like ourselves that enjoy a particular brand of gear that happens to delivers a certain sound that we all agree on. No snobbery or class-ism, just a singular taste which can be shared with a community.
I like innovation, I like research, I like dreaming, I like thinking, I like creating, I like sharing, I like listening, I like learning and I like not being alone - AND I like Acoustic.

I have a B20 practice amp and it does really well at filling a room - at a small church recently I had to turn it down from 10 o'clock to 9 o'clock as it was to much

I guess I am one of the gear snobs, but I don't exclusively use Acoustic. No one setup can cover all playing situations, like when playing DB rather than electric.
Why I like Acoustic:
- Great sound, loud (but nowhere as loud as a Shuttle), clear sound with clean highs and lows if not up too far, punch and headroom, EQ fills my needs.
- History and tradition - been using Acoustic since the 70s.
- I know the amp. How many players know their amp as well as they do thier bass?
- Showmanship - An Acoustic combination or stack looks great on stage and visually impresses throgh sheer size.
- It lets the guitarists know you can eat them for lunch...if you wanted to.

Re, Bottomend's comments - I do understand what you're saying, and I do envy you for using vintage Acoustic gear...if I could afford to, so would I. What bugs me are (pardon me) demeaning comments from some of the other people in that thread...

I agree that those comments are a little wacky but the odd thing is that the guy who made them actually knows his way around the inside of an amp REALLY REALLY well, so I cut him a tiny bit of slack and didn't say anything. I mean, of course 10's can produce bass! It has as much or more to do with the cab design, right?!
I'm glad my post wasn't interpreted as a spark to start a fight and that we can all just hang out and discuss without disgust and as sort of a side note, I've noticed something recently about written correspondence - it can sometimes take on a weight and finality that feels as though it's written in stone, whereas if it had simply been spoken during the course of a normal face to face conversation, nothing would've been made of it. Lets remember that these forums are just like we're all huddled around a camp fire thats being fueled by burning crappy old transistor guitar amps to keep us warm while having a drink and some laughs together, alright?!
I have a similar set-up(b200h with an Ampeg 410he) and was considering adding a 115 as well so I'd be interested in the answer to this question as well
Maybe I should chime in here also..I don't think less of anybody for using any other kinds or equipment, be it amplifiers or basses, guitars or whatever.. It is a matter of personal choice. I have other amps and cabinets other than Acoustics and 2x15 and 18 folded horn cabinets. I have 2 combos ,1 each w/a 10" and 12" and 2 2x10 cabinets, that I use from time to time. I have always had my Acoustics through all of the years and also used other amps,I always come back to the Acoustics, because I just like the sound they have.Plain and simple. I hope I don't come across as a gear snob.I always try to help others when I can, if I don't know something, I will try to find out about it and pass the info along.

So does Acoustic USA have a website? And how does it relate to Acoustic Amplifications? Are they the same company or what? Details please...
