Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Acoustic USA is a new amp manufacturer that has permission to use the Acoustic name (which is owned by GC), but is operating separate from GC. They do not have a website...yet.

If you ask me, the Acoustic numbering conventions have been a mess since the 70:s (and were rather convolved since day one), so this is only in line with the tradition ;)

Seriously, though, I don't think the reuse of numbers is more strange than car manufacturers keeping the model names through generations. That's where the generation notion or similar device comes handy: E.g. the statement "I like second generation Camaros" is quite stringent. Hence, IMHO the new 360 could be referred to as a "US 360" or a "360 Mk II" or simply the "new 360".

they are not reusing the name/numbers out of lack of imagination
they are simply appealing to the very good memory people have of those branding elements and try for us to make an association:
"hey, don't know the 361 but the 360 was awesome. this sure is the 360+1"

simple marketing :D

Hopefully someone here can help me with this. The power On/Off switch on my 370 has shorted out. I took the chassis out and confirmed this with my multimeter.

Since the amp got converted to a three prong power cord, the polarity switch is now useless. I was thinking of un-soldering that switch and swapping it with the on/off switch. But the switches are visually different so I'm not sure if this is a good idea.

If I don't do that, is there a place where I could get a replacement? Anyone have a dead 370 or similar amp with a rocker switch I could get?

Go to the main Unofficial Link Removed website and look under Links. There should be some electronic places to get switches and parts for your 370. There is a lot of useful info on Acoustic Control Corp. amps on the website besides the forum,check it out sometimes..;)
If you can not find the right switch,I would suggest that for cosmetic reasons you leave the old switch where it is and put a new toggle switch on the rear panel.

I for one can't wait to play and hear the new improved version if the 360/361...it has a more powerful amp ( this new one is 400 watts), the new preamp is different (the new version has a compressor, and from what I've heard in reviews by those who have played it, the new preamp gives you a far juicier tonal palette), the new version has a different speaker in it( an 18" Eminence speaker, as opposed to the "Old Days" Cerwin Vega 18" speaker ), and the new cab has a tweeter built in it to help make up for the missing freqencies inherent in the older cabs "reverse folded horn design". Nothing wrong with trying to make a popular older designed amp/cabinet better IMHO -AND having Russ Allee :hiding: and Harvey Gerst :ninja: on board to make the new Acoustic USA "New and Improved" is a great start IMO. Of course hearing will be believing-but...till then I'm very excited :hyper:...Peace...DAcat :cool:

My local guitar center had a new acoustic B410 cab and B200h head someone bought and put 1/4 inch tear in the bottom of the tolex and returned it because of this , it had a few other light scratches but after tax i got both with full warranties for 297$ after tax.

Came with boxes and everything i went home and glued the tolxe back over and you cant even tell it was tiny.
