Real easy to sit in the audience and think you can hang, and another thing to actually hang night after night. If Julie wasn't a great bass player, she wouldn't be there.It used to be that I would look forward to zeroing in on the bassist at shows, and gleaning some new-found knowledge, or at least a new lick, or 2. Either I'm getting old, or Julie was not allowed to go into the stratosphere, or perhaps my own sense of my skills came into play; for some reason, it seemed like I could figure out everything that she was doing, and had the sensation of being unimpressed. Maybe it's just that I have been a Crimson fan longer than she's been alive, and have become jaded.
