The anti-Mars Volta thread.

If that wasn't enough to expose your opinion as terribly ill-informed ...

That certainly was. Voivod were never especially math-y, and were almost always extremely catchy and above all musical (assuming "musical" means well written, well produced, original, and well played).

But he hit the mark with Meshuggah. They were the worst band I have ever seen. A mix of solid mud (Two 8 string guitars, try and cut through that :D )

...not really. You can't discount incredible musicianship just because you didn't like the style and/or the sound wasn't great.

I can't rag on Sting, because even if he only plays 2 notes per song, you can still hear the songwriting brilliance behind him. (and I don't even like him).

I like the TMV. At first I thought it was okay music, but a few more listens (actual listens, not passive listens) and they started to grow on me. I downloaded a video of them performing Televators and I thought it was really cool that the guitarist was making background noise while the keys were doing the melody. I haven't listened to the cd in a while though, been into catchy music as of late.

Anyone else think their music would work great for chase scenes?

I don't care if all the members are musical geniuses, what I saw was horrible. Sorry if you think they are incredible muscians, I don't from what I saw.

Tool had great sound that night, so it definitely can't be blamed on the venue.
