The Awesome Show Off Your Amp Thread!!

The head was actually a replacement... at first. The night of the VERY first show of the VERY first tour with that band had us waking up to find our van had been broken into. Along with merch money, car stereo, and a guitar 4x12 cab (i know, right?)... my Sunn Coliseum head was stolen.

So i booked it down to the local used place with the only stipulations being "Cheap and Loud". It came down to that Kustom or an Earth tube head. I didn't want to deal with tubes so i went for the Kustom...

...and it was the best descision ever! When cranked these old Kustoms have THEE sweetest grindy tone that actually negated the use of my (at the time) Russian Muff.

It's my favorite head. These days i don't play heavy crusty punk anymore, but i use this head in my garage indie-pop band and it's still as awesome as ever!! I even recently began effing around on guitar and the amp i bought... an early 70's Kustom combo amp!! In-SANE clean/reverb on it and just as good as some $1100 Fender combo (IMHO of course).

TL;DR: If yall ever see any of these old Kustoms, SNATCH IT UP!!! They're becoming 'hip' and starting to raise in price. I got mine for $150... but i regularly see them on CL/in used places for $300-$400.

PS: on said DIY punk tours, i've used the lovely tuck n' roll as a pillow on more than one occation! :D

Haha, right there with you brother. Magic. I'll be keeping an eye on the old ebay then

This is pretty much my exact live setup. Apparently, my MTI SVT was previously owned by the band Ratt, haha. Seriously. It sounds really great, but has had constant issues since I bought it, so I've recently switched to a GK 800RB while I save up some money to have my SVT completely gone through and fixed properly.

This is my setup for recording:

The TL-606 cab has a 400 watt EVM-15L speaker in it (same as the older Mesa Boogie bass cabs). It sounds INCREDIBLE.

Sometimes, I just use this (paired with a VT Bass pedal) instead of bringing the B-15N:

Traynor YBA-1. One of my favorite tube amps ever. Sounds phenomenal for bass and guitar.

I love the Traynor TS series, I like to think of them as a secret weapon...

I have tried the Micro-VR with the RS cabs, and that is a really good combo. I did not try the 7Pro with them, but I'd bet that it will also be excellent!

Tom.

Yeah, the Micro VR and the RS make an awesome combination. Imo much better than the original Ampeg cab that goes with the Micro Vr.

The SVT7 and the RS cabs realy puts a smile on your face.
As if the RS cabs were made to team up with Ampeg heads.
