THE BEST FUZZ PEDAL

Thanks guys. I ended up buying an MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz. I didn't want to by online and they only had this one left (and a Bass Muff) at the music shop so I went for it. Basically, it's got the 70's fuzz circuitry and the tones I was looking for, and was affordable too. The deep switch is really cool. It really brings a lot of low end to the mix and the pedal has a nice boost when the volume is turned up a just a little and the fuzz knob is almost turned off. It's a little hot but I find it's very versatile. It has lots of great tones.

Same here. Sounded good on it's own, but drown in a bandsetting. Even with the dry-function, the fuzztone got lost while only the cleansignal was audible. Just bought an MXR Blowtorch.

I notice no one mentions the popular guitar fuzz pedals like the fuzz face or germanium diode versions. Do they not work well for bass?

That, I don't know...I'm really digging mine. Between the dry low blend and the tight control, it can do so much. Then when you add the other controls, it's crazy good. I haven't even used the effects loop yet.

My personal favourites are the musket and the black arts toneworks pharaoh. The tfr is excellent, but I play an active bass so the musket is better for what I need.
