I use Lakland .045-.105 SS for many varieties of music. The key to using SS roundwounds for blues is to taper off the treble in your preamp if your bass has one, and if not, roll off the tone knob quite a bit. I play funk, jazz, smooth jazz, rock (classic and new), ska, raggae, and blues with these strings and I find them very versatile. Cool thing about them too, is that they fit string-through 35" scale basses.

They don't get that much love here on TB, but I have medium Chromes on my P and they sound scary good. I've been searching lately and can't find anything I like more.

My mates in my blues band are in love with that muscular tone.

LaBella's...also good, but not better.

Sadowskys...also good, but not better. And if you use a fiver, those taper B's have got some weird intonation problems.

TI's - Very expensive and very wiggly. I like to set my action pretty high and pull the wires fairly hard to get that old school WHUMP! and I can't do it with these.

DR Hi-Beam Flats - Just ordered a set for my 5 string Jazz, so no feedback yet, but I'm very curious about these.

I've tried a lot of strings and keep coming back to Ernie Ball slinkys. I just like the sound and the feel. They're also relatively cheap and easy to find. But for some reason I don't like them on my P-bass. They end up sounding "sproingy". Could just be something about that particular bass though.
