The best tone with Passive & Active pick ups???

Hello all... I am looking for advise on the best Passive and Active pick ups out there. Looking for a smooth / growling tone in both passive and active.

I would also like to know about pre-amp / circuit boards of course for the active pick ups too ...


Any suggestions ???

Hi,

I must say to you that nobody here can help you if you don't mention what kind of bass you have(Jazz bass, Precision, Musicman, etc,) and what style of music you want to play.

There are plenty of good pick-ups. But if you want to play metal, the best one might not be the same one as you wouold use to play Jamiroquaï you know.

I have used bartolini's with good results and also emg's.
