The Big TB Sound Sample Thread

I threw this sample together real quick in between some finals today. I can whip some more up later if someone wants. I’ve read people asking about the difference between 9V and 18V on the Fulltone Bassdrive, so I decided to post the results. This sample was recorded from my preamp straight into my interface, then bounced to the BD twice with different voltages from my DC Brick power supply. There is no EQ or compression. The same settings were used each time on the BD, only the power supply voltage was changed. This is the best way to keep consistency (as far as I know) unless someone can otherwise suggest a better method.

On with the samples!

Heavy Dist 9V
Heavy Dist 18V

Thanks for those. In my opinion there's little sound difference between the 9 and 18V power supplies. There's something slightly different in the highs but nothing drastic. I used to use my Bassdrive exclusively in 18V for over a year. Lately I did some extensive A/B testing with 9 and 18V power supplies and then decided to ditch the 18V power supply because the sonic difference was very small. IMO.

The recordings sound better through headphones, you get the stereo image better that way IMO.

I had trouble finding lines that showed what 2 choppers could do and because its quite a recent discovery I've not really had a chance to mess around and find some really juicy settings (and lines) with both.

Out of the two I personally think the 2nd is better but neither are really great.

Starts with just one chopper and then adds the 2nd at around 0:58 (I think).

Its a Guyatone BR-2 that I just bought new and then found out they are discontinued??... then later on in the sample I make a bit of noise with the Tonebender... Sorry its a bit random and all over the place..

Whats the song you're playing around 2:45 in that clip? I remember I love that song but can't remember the title at all.

Messdrive sounds sweet! I want to sell my muff and buy one

Those messdrive clips sound great. Seems like a very versatile fuzz. The lower gain clips on their site sound really good too. I would love to hear more of hat this pedal can do toward the OD end of the spectrum. Was that an active bass? And does it really not matter with this pedal?
