The Big TB Sound Sample Thread

it was suggested that I move this over to this thread, so here it is.....

I recorded my bands last show and was using three Behringer stomps that night. So as I was going through the recordings I found a few clips where I used the different pedals.

BCH100 Bass Chorus - this clip is kinda long, but you can hear the effect on different registers on the bass ( i dropped out the vox but left the guitar and drums, you can hear vox in bleedthrough on the drum mics though.)

UF-100 Ultra Flanger - the clip is much shorter, just guitar bass and drums during the bass break in everybodys favorite bar song. I had set the effect up so that it would be very noticeable when I used it ass opposed to the more subtle setting on the Bass Chorus.

BOD-100 Bass Overdrive - I didn't really use this pedal during the show since we didn't play the song I wanted to try it on. I did catch a clip of me playing a lick (badly) with it on. I'm happy with the pedal but still tweaking the sound.

Okay, I was left alone with my toys too long again.
5 track clip. Use headphones or quality speakers to hear all the sounds.

Gear: Yammy BB3000AF fretless>some effects>my laptop>Presonus Inspire 1394>Cubase LE.

Center: Lead part = Whammy harmony Oct up + CEB3
Bass line = Delay recorded in stereo
Left: BSW set to "Ya-ya" + CEB3
Right: The faint keyboard bass like sound that only plays at the beginning of each bar = MM4 Ring modulator + DOD Vibrothang
Drums: Alesis SR16

I thought this clip sounded a bit crowded. Especially with the lead and bass parts sharing the center :hmm:

Already posted this in the distortion mega thread but hell, gotta bump this mofo thread aswell I thought! ;)

Lemon Fuzz (with blend knob):

Short soundclip, just took the Soundgarden - Loud Love riff (as it was simple to play :D)

Enjoy :)

hey Uly, i really like those clips a lot. is that with an active bass???

Hey mate, glad you liked it :)

No actually it's my fender jazz bass with passives i'm playing there through my sadowsky outboard preamp.

However, I'm considering not to have a preamp in the chain as I actually like the passive "growl".

While I do realise that the sadowsky fattens up the sound I don't really dig the "hollow" sound of it.

This instrumental has three tracks of bass.GHETTO MAGIC
Track 1:The main bassline is recorded direct into my Boss BR-864, the only effect is slight compression and the built in Octaver.
Track 2: Lead synth part is Ibanez SB7 using synth 1 mode with a slow decay
Track3:Other synth part in verses is Ibanez SB7 in synth 1 mode using a fast decay.
All tracks were recorded with an EBMM Stingray 5.

That Ibby Synth pedal sounds great. Thanks!
Thanks, that's what i've been trying to tell people for a while but everyone seems pretty quick to dismiss the SB7 as being no good. It's a very different animal than the Boss or Digitech synths.I believe it is analog and actually a filter with no sub-octave being generated. When combined with a separate ocatver though it sounds amazing, add distortion and prepare to stand back................. :hiding:

well, I wanted to record these using the DI on my Bass Vamp Pro, but since it was stolen on Wednesday, I couldn't.

Setup is as follows. LeCompte Thunderbird bass (5 string) into (insert effect here) into Behringer BDI21 Di box (eq set flat) into digital mixer into PC/SoundForge. No extra effects were added and the clips are not normalized. If you hear a high pitched whine in some of the clips, its due to where i was sitting (near comp monitors and other electrical gear) I tried to minimize it but sometimes could not.

If you see a setting in the file names with with a number next to it, the number represents the "clock" position of that control.

On to the clips..

BOD100 Bass Overdrive
The first are settings from my last gig.

Sorry about the Quality, signal is as folows:
'78 P-Bass w/ Flats -> Effect -> GK 400RB-III DI OUT -> Tascam Portastudio -> Laptop Microphone input

But it should give you a pretty good idea. I know, I need to upgrade my digital recording. LOL.

Please don't stream, I can't afford the bandwidth. Please right click and hit save as.

1. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (Get idea of originating signal)
2. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (for comparison)
3. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (nice clean tube overdrive)
4. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (nice FAT distortion)

If you can't tell, it's just a quickie recording of Seek & Destroy. Please, no comments on my lack of keeping tempo ;)
