Check out psychobabble. I used a laptop soundcard and speaker to get the overdrive, recorded the speaker through a microphone, edited an echo effect in, edited a wah and phaser in, forget which order or what values, then added another echo (audacity is fun ). If I were to emulate that in real life, I'd probably use 1) my Russian Muff, 2) a BSW which is on its way from ZZsounds, and 3) some chorus pedal I don't have yet on the last part of the chain, though that's optional at this point.

Yea, it sounds pretty good even though that clip doesn't do it justice.

I recorded it by running it into my Peavey combo, then preamp out to the mic input on my cheap SB Live 5.1 card. I'll try and do some other clips of it later.

For the Yamaha clips I just ran the pedal straight into my soundcard. Its really a great pedal but I have my Nightbass taking care of my distortion needs. BTW, you can get a pretty good Cliff sound when used with a wah. Anybody need a pedal?

So it does get the funk thing, but how well does it do distortion into wah (a la Timmy C on calm like a bomb) and wah into distortion (a la Cliff Burton ) ?

Did 6 demos of the setup(s) I use:

  Heel Freq = 6 (250 Hz)
Sweep Range = 1 (on scale of 1-7)
          Q = 6 (on scale of 1-7)
Boost Level = 5 (scale of 1-7)

[b]Amp Setup:[/b]
  Bass = Flat or Full Boost (depending on demo)
   Mid = Flat
Treble = Completly Cut

These 2 Demos are of an Intro/Verse arrangment using the wah toe'd for the intro, rocked back at the end of intro, and heeled for the verse:

Gday guys.

Couldnt be botherd posting the clips here so this is the link to an Ibanez Weeping Demon wah i bought and did a review on.

The clips are DIRRRTY wah (ala cliff burton).... clean wah fingered... and a clean wah with some slap playing. Enjoy, and forgive my crappy playing

Btw... i recorded these using headphones as a mic, but the sound quality didnt turn out too bad.

The chorus and MF-101 were with my EBMM Sterling, and the Mammoth was with my Fender American Standard P with flatwounds. Everything recorded direct to some basic Zoom digital 4-track, no EQ.

That Moogerfooger sample is the tip of the iceberg, that thing gets better every time I sit down with it. Definitely not plug and play.

The problem with active basses and the Woolly Mammoth is that the signal really gets compressed, particularly on the lower strings. But if you drop the volume on the bass itself, it sounds pretty good, and then you can compensate with the output knob on the pedal itself. Now if you're going back and forth between clean and fuzz throughout a song, messing with a volume knob as well as tapdancing while trying not to miss a beat could prove hazardous. We'll see how that goes my next gig.

I'll post a sample of my Sterling through the Mammoth sometime this weekend.
