I used a standard tune 4 string Adler Bass.

all knobs set at 3:00(bass,mids,treble,blend and gain)
volume set at 12:00
midshift set at 250hz

Oh, and yes, I've named them after the 4 horsemen of myth. Famine is the interesting one. I just decided to try and get a korn-like sound. It's the only sample played with the tone controll on at all...

Oh and before anyone comments, the dist in the clean samples is me overloading the mic in on my computer, hehehe... :scowl:

And, also, in these samples I used only my fingers but played down near the bridge.

As I now can do recordings out of the XLR and they are quieter than the way I was doing it before, I figured that I might as well replace the long post and redo the recordings. This time I did separate recordings for Finger-style and Pick-style playing. I also decided to use different positions for playing to bring out the best of what each style has to offer. For Finger I played nearer the neck than last time to bring out more of the "roundness" associated with the style. As for Pick, I played in the same position as last time (near the bridge) to bring out more of the "punch" as is usual with pick playing. Also, as I do not play slap (I've only been at this for 8 months!), I felt that the Slap setting was nothing special (especially when I've done 14 other settings!) and did not redo it. Sorry if this disappoints anyone...

Hope you enjoy these and get something out of them. As before the settings I use are above, in post #90. Oh, and BTW the ones marked (BDDI) are from the Bass Driver's OM, and have been emulated by placing the mid-shift at 2 o'clock so that the mid acts as a prescence control. Well, except for the Fat Tube setting, cus the mids are "flat"!

One last EDIT: the settings of the bass are:

Pickup: Neck P-Style
Volume: Full
Tone: On

Don't know if you've heard these already, but...
Pbass pick-style, maxed out, clean through an Electro-Harmonix White Finger Compressor to warm up the tone, then:

1) Sansamp Bass Driver on the SVT settings with gain slightly reduced

2) Boss OD-3 going into the BDDI, unity volume, 0 gain

3) Boss OD-3 going into the BDDI, but with the gain boosted to 9 o'clock

These demos are done using a J-Style pickup on full with tone on full. The Finger ones are played near the neck and the Pick ones are played near the bridge.

Same as the last (P pup, vol and tone dimed) into an Ehx White Finger compressor, into an OD-3 (not ODB-3!) and the BDDI, played pickstyle. The BDDI is set to the SVT setting with the gain slightly rolled back to the 11 o'clock position:

00:31 - BDDI only, on SVT setting
01:05 - BDDI and OD-3 at unity level and 0 gain
01:35 - BDDI and OD-3 with gain set to 9 o'clock
02:09 - BDDI and OD-3 with gain set to 12 o'clock
02:41 - BDDI and OD-3 with gain set to 3 o'clock
03:17 - BDDI and OD-3 with gain set to full
03:50 - BDDI and OD-3 with vol and gain set to full

I can't hear a difference between 02:41 and 03:17, and at 03:50 it was distorting my laptop input so the results probably aren't as accurate as they should be, but you get an idea of what it's like.
