I’ve had my BFR Bongo listed for sale for months. I don’t understand why no one seems to want it.
Is that the grabber green? I find those were even more niche due to the binding that not everyone likes. Have you tried reverb? They seem to sell like hot cakes there. Also this year there was a ridiculous amount of people selling basses, I feel it was even more exponential than previous years. I even saw some boutiques for cheap.
As long as the balance is as good as the guy told me by phone, I'll probably just leave the clovers. I agree they look better.

Last year I had a 5 string Bongo that I loved, but I'm not a collector and switched back to 4 strings so I sold it. I've been watching for a 4 string bongo with an unpainted neck (I know everybody has a different preference on this, that's great) and finally picked on up last week. Ordered a clear pick guard to put on it after I saw somebody post about how theirs looked with no pick guard.
Now let's see if I can find a 4 string H or HS fretless bongo with an unpainted neck this year

Yeah, I think it's going to be a long wait, or having to find a luthier to modify the neck of a 4 H/HS.
I passed on a modded one about 6 months ago thinking I could find a “proper” one…

I have, but they weren’t to my liking. Too much on the high end. Just fretting the strings produced a ping. While Colbalt Rounds are my favorite strings for my StingRays, they don’t work for me on my Bongo. I prefer Slinkys on the Bongo.

It was about two weeks later that the shine wore off. I'm thinking it must be my body chemistry that dulled off the sound so quickly. Though, that's never happened to me on any other strings I've bought.
Second this, I use pure blues on my harvest orange 6HH and they are so nice. on the other stealth 6hh I use daddario regular nickel XL and I love them as well.
Slinkys I found too easy to break, and they were getting hard to find sets for 6 strings.
Currently have my Bongo 4HH tuned to D standard and the Pure Blues sound great, but are a little floppy (45-105s). I tried the 50-110 Pure Blues and they were too dark for me.
I could live with the Pure Blues 45-105 but am going to try some stiffer strings as well as I don't like higher gauge strings and want a little more ability to dig in. I play with a light touch thankfully so can get away with standard gauge down tuned.
Going to try nickel DR lo riders as well as Elrick nickel strings. I'll report back
I do think nickel sound best on the Bongo. Hi Beams sounded good but were a bit too bright and pingy.

I've had cobalt rounds on my Bongo 5er for the last few months and have no complaints. It is a bit more aggressive on the high mids and highs than the regular slinkys I was running before, though.
Just an update on my Bongo string test
Hi Beams - sound good after breaking in but generally too bright for me
Pure Blues - my favorite and still the current winner. Nice highs without being harsh and great hi mid focus. Sound great for slap and have that round core flexibility that I like
Nickel Lo Riders - generally very good but the low mids were just a bit much for me. I found it wasn't as good of a fit for the Bongos EQ as the other strings. Nice feel though although stiffer
Elrick Nickel Strings - stiff but not overly so. I really liked the A, D, and G strings. Reminded me of a slightly more mellow and stiffer Pure Blues. I think I may have gotten a bum E string though as it had less sustain than the other strings. When I put the Pure Blues back on the sustain literally doubled on the E string!
Pure Blues remains my fav.

I have been playing 5s predominantly for the last 7 years or so and probably should have just bought another 5. That being said this Bongo is the best sounding of the three Bongos I have owned (other two were 5s). I also love the Bongo slap sound and 4s are better for that for me. So I may just keep it

Love Dr pure blues - second only to TI Jazz rounds… (also love the Jazz Flats)
I wish TI wasnt so cost prohibitive so I can try some different ones.
