THE BONGO CLUB (Part 2, 3 and infinity)

I've been consistently playing my Bongo HH 5 at church

MANY MANY people saying its the prettiest bass they have ever seen!

The thing is awesome... just love it. Fantastic tone. I have NO gas for another 5er.

love it to pieces... the tonal possibilities are so vast !

I was gonna start my own thread, but I figured I would just squeeze in here...
I just found out about the Premier Dealer Mahogany Bongo. I've always said that if MM made the Bongo in Mahogany, I would own one. And now, when I'm at my most destitute, what happens? THEY RELEASE MY FRIGGIN DREAM BONGO WITH ONLY A ONE MONTH ORDERING WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, if anyone orders a Mahogany Bongo 6'er HS, I hope you end up hating it. That way, in a year or two (after I've gotten two or three jobs) you can sell it to me!!!

The dealers will be ordering some for stock too. So, there is a little more time but you may not find the 6HS that you want.

My baby just arrived. NBD! :D :D
I located a new old stock 2008 LE Sequoia Gold Bongo HS4.
HAD to have it.
It is the soul mate to my 2008 LE Stingray HS4.
Twins! (sort of ) :D
Thank you Beaver @ Bass Central!

Jesus. Now my pants feel tight.

Is that a limited edition color? If so, why?

hhahahah!

Yes it is a limited edition color/bongo.
This was their LE color across the board in 2008.
The color is called "Seqoia Gold"

The color looks kind of root beer in color with gold in the middle areas of the bass. Same finish front and back.
The headstock is this too. Even the back of neck has the gold effect through it.

Deep color rosewood board, heavy grain detail.
All gold hardware and 2008 badge inlay at the 12th fret.
Special LE tan Lizard skin fitted hard case with LE badge.

I found this ones twin in an HS Stingray several years ago mint.
Then just recently found this one at BC as brand new old stock.
The pair will be with me for Life I am sure.

These are now super rare!:bassist:

I recently traded my StingRay HH4 for a Bongo 6. I love the new bass, I love playing the 6, and glad I made the deal, but...

I really do miss that StingRay bite. We've all seen plenty of threads comparing the tonal virtues of each bass, so I won't rehash that here. I'm just wondering to myself:

1: Could the electronics payload of a StingRay be successfully transplanted into a Bongo? (the StingRay's pickup selector switch converted to the Bongo's balance knob, etc.)

2: Do the pickups have too much to do with the tone for it to work? They're different metals. After all that transplant work, would I be disappointed because it still doesn't sound like a StingRay?

3: Are the electronics payloads in the MusicMan SUB the exact same as a 'Ray? Since I'd only be buying it to gut it, would the less-expensive SUB be just the same?

4: If a train leaves Buffalo at 8pm on Friday going 60mph, and the gig is in Queens at 10pm Saturday, will I get blindingly drunk twice before showtime?

I don't think you will get the same sounds just because the pickups are in different positions to those of the Stingray

Nawwwww... that can't be the entirety of the difference between the 'Ray and the Bongo sounds. The quest continues...

I guess I don't understand what the point her would be, first off no the electronics in the sub are not the same as the stingray,
secondly idk why you would ever want to downgrade the bongo electronics
but if you like the stingray sound why don't you just sell the bongo and buy another stingray
