THE BONGO CLUB (Part 2, 3 and infinity)

In the beginning It was a hard sell for me. (the look) but, Im really into Dave Larue and his tone. I have a Nice EBMM Usa Sterling. Love it but I had a chance to to grab a Bongo Fretless HSP. And I must say its has the best pre-amp ever.
I can dial in any tone. I will be looking to aid a fretted model soon, I think.

RB raises an eyebrow..... "I will be adding a Fretted Model (Bongo) soon".......Leave off the "I think" and just do what's right...... "Bongos are Beautiful to Behold AND the Body Shape is Totally Bassilicious".

Repeat that 127 times!! :woot::thumbsup::cool:

From the Department of "Just Sayin'"...... :thumbsup:

I don't do "Social Media" cuz it's RIPE with Rudeness. I Block Weiners as fast as I find them..... but I'll go to my Grave defending Nice Guys who are kind, caring and thoughtful. Although I've never met "The Lobster" or any others on here that I'm aware of, please know that he's not only a very talented Bassist...but he's also a Great Guy. While his thoughts on the Body Shape may be somewhat Twisted, :D he'll come around.... And please do check out his YouTube Channel. :smug:

Hey everyone! Here's my latest review video on my Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 5 from the September 2020 BFR Collection. Enjoy!

Nice review Lobster, as always - I take your point on the MM 5 string proximity of strings to the edge of the board. However it is definitely a technique issue in respect of pulling it over the edge - I find I seldom, if ever do it, especially after playing for a couple of minutes, but it is possible - however I have no problem, for instance playing Teen Town without doing this, on an SR5 or Bongo 5. Note the John Myung Signature version has 6 strings on the Bongo 5 neck profile (narrower string spacing also).

Regarding stainless steel frets, I know they were used on all Stingray Specials from their introduction in 2018 - but also my 2014 Neptune Blue PDN Sabre has them (cue gratuitous photo!!). All the Neptune Blue PDN 2014 bass instruments have roasted necks and stainless frets.

However this is a Bongo thread - a little confusingly there are several Bongo Clubs on Talkbass it seems - this is my BFR 2021 Bongo 5 (1 of 66), which hasn’t appeared in this particular thread!! Apologies if any of you have seen it before. It’s a slightly different take on a Bongo, white sparkle, no pickguard, figured maple board and looks/feels quite different - it joined my 2008 5HH with piezo (lava pearl). I love them - they’re great basses. The instrument is actually more or less the same size as a Stingray 5 and not much longer than an SR4 in reality (maybe 50 mm).

You got some beauts!

In some ways he's right on. The BONGO did push bass design ahead for EBMM. I have 2 BONGOS and LOVE the pickups...I have 2 of the New RAYS, 4 and 5 HH...Close as to BONGO guts as we are going to get. It's a good move.
Great Review. I was curious as to what MODELS the LOB was pining for...The BIG AL?
