THE BONGO CLUB (Part 2, 3 and infinity)

My Bongo H had an issue with the volume poti: it was bent and turned over the stop point. Got a new poti from my dealer in Germany and today I was soldering!
It took me over 45 minutes to get the poti out finally I did some wiggling whilst holding the iron on the 3 pins in turn - it cam out. Soldering in the new one was a piece of cake ;)
Now I only have to do the balance poti on my Bongo HS...

Confusingly there’s more than one Bongo Club thread and I used the wrong one initially :(:bawl: now corrected.

Anyhow UPS delivered my MM Bongo Crescendo today to me in the U.K. - exactly 10 days after it was built at SLO. It’s really very nice indeed - quite lightweight - as usual with a Bongo, incredibly resonant (harmonics positively jump out of the bass when played acoustically). There’s a subtle silver sparkle in the white which adds an extra bit of bling :D

It has BFR on the neck plate. The fretboard is great - nicely figured.

Hey everyone! Here's my latest review video on my Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 5 from the September 2020 BFR Collection. Enjoy!

I have one of the first BFR Bongos 6 string in Grabber Green with the white binding and pickguard. It’s my second 6 string Bongo and have never had an issue with the C string falling off the sides, so maybe that’s a 5 string issue. I still say it’s one of the most versatile sounding instruments that I know of as well as extremely comfortable

Thanks! I think its specifically with the 5. I haven't played a six but the 4s don't do this.

Dear "Crusty"...... Before we begin I need to be VERY Clear on a Couple of points. You've seen my name appear on many of your YouTube offerings and I like you very much. However (LOL), let's be honest, you've just walked into the Glorious "House of Bongo" and told us that we have an "Ugly Baby". :woot: Again, I like you, and we're neighbors,....but on this we disagree. ;) And as far as design, BMW was involved in the design BUT... WITH our Beloved MusicMan Master and High Priest: "Big Poppa". In the eyes of many he should be listed in Marvel Comics as a "Super Hero"...complete with a Cape and a Titanium Crown of some kind. :D

Now...so as not to insult you in any way.....the "Toilet Seat" thing. It shall forever be the cause of much pain to hear that phrase, one which I shall defend as long as I live, but other Genius designs have suffered similar insults as well. Leo Fender was laughed at. Ned Steinberger was laughed at. The list is a long one. :) Strange Shapes? Hofner 500/1. Danelectro Longhorn. Both killer basses. :smug:

Now....the Size. Sometimes a pic is worth 12 words. :D

 IMHO, the Bongo is my Go-To Bass. Without touching a single control on my Rig I can get ANY sound I'd like from the onboard Controls. I've played MANY basses. I've owned many Basses. Each time I try to like a Sting Ray I play it/them next to a Bongo and the Bongo wins every time. Fender, my former employer has a Precision Bass. Music Man has a "Perfection" Bass...and Bongo is its name. :D

Should the Bongo EVER be discontinued I would climb up on my roof....remove my Bathrobe...and leap to the Street below. :) :roflmao: Aaaaggghhhhhhh!

"toilet seat", "huge bass, extra-large body and long headstock", "worthwhile to retire", "so much wasted space", "problem with falling-off G string on all MM 5-strings", "design on the antiquated side", "3 out of 5"

Just saving your time, gents.
To be honest, I hated them when they came out. It wasn’t until I played one that it became a must have for the sound. I then gradually got used to the look
