Lol bruh you finally have your dream. They been talking about it for a decade and it will hit stores here soon. It’s a 6 string with 5 string neck widthDoes anyone know if the Bongo John Myung plays might be made into a production model, maybe a sig bass? It's a Bongo 6 with a Bongo 5 neck. The spacing would be tighter obviously, but that would definitely work for meEBMM can leave the preamp as is, thank you very much!

So I’m BMW guy and I like the Bongo for that reason. What’s actuslly unique about it aside from visuals? Is it just a goofy looking stingray?
I like the Bongo for a host of Reasons. #1. I think it's Gorgeous. #2. It has every sound in it that one could ever imagine. #3. There are still folks saying it looks like a "Toilet seat".... I google them, find out where they live, break into their home and STEAL each toilet seat in their home so that when they "sit"on the Cold Throne cuz they didn't notice the "Seat" was missing, it gives them a good reason to pay more attention to the truly Important things in Life.

Pretty much everything, save the large-pole humbucker pickup format and active electronics. But even the Bongo pickups are voiced and placed differently (for the HH and HS versions) and the pre is four-band rather than three.
Regarding the “goofy” reference, let me suggest one read the room and mind one’s manners appropriately.
There are a lot of differences from the Stingray, and most other basses for that matter. You've got to remember the context; this bass was pretty futuristic in 2003.
With few exceptions (Rick, Gibson), most basses at that time were Fender shaped. Pickup magnets were mostly alnico, or ceramic. The Bongo was a step away from those. With its neodymium magnets, 18v preamp and 24 frets it was a unique addition to Music Man's lineup.
Even though the new Stingray models now feature neodymium magnets & 18v preamps, the two basses sound very different.
Concerning its looks, most Bongo players enjoy the fact that the easily excitable become richly emotional when seeing these basses used live

Current rays have different pre-amps. The current Bongos are only available as HH configuration which is different than the spacing on an HH Stingray. I believe the single H bongo is the same as the single H Ray but I could be wrong.
Without measuring the two (Bongo & 'Ray), I believe the single H Bongo has the pickup positioned slightly further from the bridge than the 'Ray. However, I do know that the Bongo's single H is in a different position than that of the bridge pickup on the HH Bongo.
Also of note, the single H Bongo has a 3-band EQ, where the HH Bongo uses a 4-band.
The Stingray Special preamp is indeed a different design than the Bongo. To my ears the Bongo H has a more aggressive sound than the Special's HH bridge pickup.

Very interesting. I’m stuck between a bongo, a short Ray. And a T bird.
Probably I will waffle until prices return to normal. (Maybe that’s never)
All 3 of those basses are very different from each other. The shortscale StingRays are passive so not even really comparable to the Bongo. Same goes for the T bird, but probably even more differnent compared to a Bongo.
