All 3 of those basses are very different from each other. The shortscale StingRays are passive so not even really comparable to the Bongo. Same goes for the T bird, but probably even more differnent compared to a Bongo.

Tbh I’m interested in bongo purely for aesthetic. Tbird sounds bad add and looks great. Short scale Ray becuase I simply think short scale plays and sounds better

Thanks! Yup I ordered the Bongo 6 harvest orange as soon as it came out. Itll fit perfectly between the fretless orange and the stealth black.

Thats for sure! Im not usually one to get extra basses, but I like having a spare and I sold the other Yamaha 6 I had.

Only thing im not a fan of is the price, a whooping 3500 CAD. The stealth was 1800 CAD new 10+ years back

yep. Just found myself in the market for a new truck. Last time I bought was 2012…… virtually double.
What it is I guess.
Assuming that’s $3500 plus tax?

Has any of you guys stripped/sanded the back of a Bongo neck and treated with tru-oil/wax ? The PDN and BFR sll have naked necks, which I personally prefer.

My BFR has a naked fretboard but painted neck - it’s really nice though.

While I've not sanded the neck on mine, it does have a satin feel, and is not glossy at all. There are a handful that have come from the factory with unpainted, oiled necks if that appeals to you.

On a side note, I did see a Bongo listed on Reverb that clearly had a sanded neck... At least it will give you an idea what doing something like that would look like:

My HS is non-glossy, but the H was played heavily and turned glossy. The are also some dongs on the neck (heavy metal use ?)
I also like the necks of my BigAl-5 and the SR5 20th

I have a 1999 Bongo that has been my main gigging bass for many, many years. My satin neck also turned glossy over time. Scotchbrite pad takes of the shine for a while but needs to be done again every so often.
